its a hindu superstitious thing. And in the uk alot of sikhs practice it, they shudnt if they wanna call themselves sikh. Guru nanak ji rejected the black thread that the brahmin tried putting around his neck stating that the thread cannot make a person good. DO not put blind faith in meaningless threads on your body. Many sikhs argue that they do it because they want to show their sisters that they are there to protect them. I ask them this: when u allow a thread to be placed around your wrist and give your sister money u say it symbolises that u will protect her from harm. But what if the thread breaks? will that mean that u will not protect her if she is gettin raped?? Sikhs protect their sisters from harm regardless of a silly thread around wrists. its a pity many sikhs still think its a part of sikhi. sat sri akaal

yoga is physical condioning of the body. its basically excercise and no1 can say that excercise bad 4 u. yoga focuses the body as well as the mind. sikhism encourages excercise and keeping fit e.g sikh martial arts is a part of sikh life

what exactly do they mean by khalsa schools? do they mean a school for only amritdhari sikhs? or a school for sikhs in general? Guru nanak sikh college on springfield road is 1 of those religious schools..... some of the worst people i know come out from there. its no different from any other high school. u get the good and bad people just like any other place. people still drink and smoke on site.. so a khalsa school is only for amrithari sikhs rite?

yeh i heard that too. i heard some mothers still say to their kids "go to sleep or haria will come" lol. Great man he was. is gayism even a word. i think khalsa fauj is just trying to tell every1 to stay on a str8 path. A relationship between a man and woman (husband and wife) is for procreation. Gurus believed in procreation because they had kids. Guru nanak also said that one should procreate. that is why there is generally no celebacy among sikhs. If some1 wants to remain celebate then that is a personal choice. But to perform the opposite of that and have sex at 0% reproductive ratewith the same sex, is giving in to sexual lust. i can justify this because.... when people engage in homosexual activities they dont do it for a purpose to procreate they do it it for their own desires, u cannot procreate (reproduce) in a homosexual relationship, and it is giving in to Kaam ( lust and illegitimate sex). having said this, i would like to remind every1 that homosexuals are equal in the human race. SIkhism doesnt reject anyone, we accept all. we pray for the welfare of all... im glad u brang this issue up. its happening alot in schools in the uk. In southall, at high schools people are not allowed to wear a karra. there are big restrictions. Only a tiny karra is allowed. There have been instances when people have gone into school with a certain size karra and the head of year has confiscated and in some cases even thrown the karra in the bin.

i know a amridhari singh. i used 2 see him at park avenue gurdwara quite frequently. he used to teach us about sikhi from time to time wen we used to converse. i saw him in uxbridge KFC munching on a chicken leg. i walked up 2 him 2 say hi, he dropped the chicken leg on his tray and picked up some chips instead. whos he tryna fool? me or himself?

all living things have souls. a sikh cannot harm another soul. a sikh cannot eat meat. it is prohibited. learn the basics.

excercises can help people with health problems yes. but i do think ramdev is exaggerating when he says "he was once completely blind, then through yoga he regained his sight fully". I am also concerned about sikhs watching his programmes. his excercises are fine....they are good for health....BUT i did notice a once on his programme he had a picture of sai baba in the back. (sai baba is a well known paedophiile and fraud) many of u may recall the BBC documentary on british television exposing him and his tricks. ramdev's yoga excercises are fine however.

indeed. 2day i only seen 1 side being preached. what ever happened to the soldier aspect of sikhi? bhinderawalle was educated well very knowledgable. he also used to take action against rongs against sikhs and non sikhs. 2day they give title of sant to a man sittin on a chair and pray to him (or in clifton road case just a chair lol)

My view is that we are becoming to westernised. Sure food should not have unwanted things such as plastic bits in it. But one little thing like this doesnt man that all Gurdwara food is good and only food at big Gurdwara is bad (refering to post above). Also i dont think plastic bit that tiny can do any harm to anyone. finally you guys should realise that its not restaurant food that you are eating, Guru Ghar wich jo milda , that should be good enough. Also guru ji is there to protect you so you just just keep eating langar. Im just wondering cant they also serve pizza's and pasta and other stuff , since thats food too and its not like we have to eat roti lol u aint heard of nanaksar in southall
