  1. Agreed Sikhism can become a global force. But we don't have funding or any kind of parchaar organisations. Muslims have hundreds of missionary organisations. They give out free Korans. They also do love jihad to convert women. Sikhs need to start giving out informational leaflets out and have help for people interested in Sikhi. Only one is basics of sikhi who don't me seem to be up to much at the moment. I have donated to them but what projects are they doing these days.
  2. You are obviously a bigger fool then I thought. Do you think millions of Sikhs who only use Singh or Kaur are inbred? These people know full well what 'clan' they are from so there is no need to have that name on official documents you budoo. Unlike you who still wants everyone to use family names as mark of pride. Instead of creating Sikh unity with one surname for all.Your actually going against the Sikh teachings. You have nothing to respond back with and dont address the question I asked or the wiki article I posted. As you dont have the intelligence to support your claims pendoowala.
  3. Looks like your just jealous of all the millions of Sikhs that only use Singh or Kaur as their last name without any other name. You are advocating that we all use a caste name also like you. Well that is not going to happen. Your obviously still to much attached to caste ideology and are a proud pendoowala or whatever you last name is. I know fully well what particular group I belong to and clan without writing it down on my passport of official document. I obviously know its important to have it but does not need to be officially on any papers or birth certificate. I am advocating you also change your name and all your family name to only singh or kaur. Below taken from wikpedia In Sikhism, women don't change their surnames after marriage - this is due to the fact that each partner keeps Singh and Kaur respectively, who use their preferred names). Again, Punjabi culture generally contradicts this as women are expected to take their husband's family name. Their daughters would then generally have a given name, as well as the Khalsa name and their father's last name, which is usually the name of the father's village; for example, a girl with the name Harjeet, whose father's last name is Aulakh, would then become Harjeet Kaur Aulakh (meaning "Harjeet, princess of Aulakh"). In spite that this system is not permitted for Sikhs as it reinforces both tribalism and the patriarchy, it is the most widely used naming system amongst non-baptized Sikhs (and still prevalent among baptized Sikhs).Sikh girls take on last name of Singh, a practice more common in larger cities. Many Sikhs use the sole Singh and Kaur (without any other family name). Baptism is not necessary to use these Sikh last names. Some believers maintain that this practice of naming without using the word Singh or Kaur is manmat (Against the will of the Guru) and is prohibited in the Rehat Maryada (The way of living of Sikhs).[1]
  4. Using family names only promotes caste nonsence. That is why Gurus gave us a singular name for all to use to eradicate this. So many people have complimented me for my surename over the years and instantly know I m Sikh because of it. There is no better pleasure then that my friend. It means lion. Not sure what your family name means but it cant be better then the great name Singh or Kaur.
  5. Thousands use the name singh and kaur without being baptised. Not sure with this notion has come from that you need to be baptised.
  6. That is a pretty feeble and strange excuse. I know many Sikhs who are not Amritdhari but have the name Singh or Kaur as their only last name. Are you saying these people and thousands more should go back to having their family name instead of Singh or Kaur as they are not Amritdhari? Having Singh or Kaur actually promotes the faith in many ways instead of a family name like sidhu or bedi. I find people also respect Singh and Kaur more then family names. I always feels proud when I am called Mr Singh. Seems like your still hung up on caste and more proud of that instead of taking up the name . Look at some people who have made Singh and Sikhs ell known Manmohan Singh Vijay Singh Having Singh shows unity and being proud of our unique identity and allegence to the Gurus. You dodnt need to be baptised to have singh as your name thousands use it without it. When I see sikhs with silly caste names it really degrades our identity.
  7. We were instructed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to only use Singh and Kaur. Yet about 70% of Sikhs still use their family names. As someone who has always had Singh in my name I find it odd that people still cling onto their family name like some kind of badge of honour and false pride. Wherever I go people instantly know what faith I am by my surname and even respect me more when they see my surname as SINGH they know I have ditched any kind of castists backward name. That is the response I have got from many non sikhs. Who admire that name. Which is probably the best and well known name there is in India and abroad. Not some silly name like channa or bedi ect. Yet people still love to flaunt their caste names on twitter and facebook. Singh and Kaur is meant to create unity in the panth. Yet people would rather have some silly names that dont mean jack. Why do people have no pride in Singh or Kaur? having your silly pendu name just creates division.
  8. On a serious note. I call it the mtv-whitified generation of women in the uk. These apnia are just copying white girls. They also do it to tease men and say this is what we got and you cant have it. To make themselves feel superior. Many are low on confidence so dress like slappers for the attention and to show off. They dont realise they are degrading themsleves. you can look nice without showing your flesh.
  9. Why are you jealous? If women want to show their flesh . Why cant they? They are beautiful. If you have got it flaunt it. Sounds like sour grapes
  10. Gurjant you sound like the type of guy who if someone, just as much blew on you. You would cry genocide and cry like a baby.
  11. Not a bad idea. But I want to use my power for good not to make money. Im just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is it something that can evolved further by training.
  12. I have been having some strange confidences of late. ie the past 2 years. To name a few things that have happened that seems like more then a coincidence. I would be thinking about something then the very same thing would come on the television. I was talking about a famous person. And low and behold that person by chance would be on the telly or paper just after I was talking about them. And many more. To long to go into detail to list all of them. Could this be some magical power I have where I can sence things that are about to happen? Or is it just coincidence?
  13. Many indians in The north are light and European looking. Probably due to all the invaders that came to India. ie Greek, white, Portuguese. Most north Indians could pass for being meditarian looking. Ie greek, Italian, spanish. Im always being mistaken for Italian or greek. Probably due to my fair skin.
  14. Pakistan is a no go zone for minority faiths. The government cant protect it citizens. Best to sell up and leave. Use that money to buy somewhere in India. Ie Punjab. Many Hindus ate also leaving in droves and returning to India.
  15. Seems like they need to re-write the text books. So many still believe in this myth. It is interesting to note that Guru Nanak did not start the faith of Sikhism. They basically had beliefs and concepts. It became a religion further down by the following Gurus who created the religion.
  16. Not sure if diet is a big factor to be honest in determining gender. Although eating healthy and excersing and keeping away from alcohol/other intoxicants can only be good for the building blocks of life. What I read is that is largely due to genetics to a certain degree. Ie if you your father had alot of sons then you will also have alot of male offsping. But if he had alot of daughters then you will also have more chance of a having female childeren. Its passed down.
  17. The war thing could be true. I live in an area with alot of tamils who came from war torn sri lanka. Ive noticed many have more boys then girls. That is one thing im careful about. Plastics and food contamination. It is known for chemicals to go into food. Such as cling film wrapped around foods. Causing hormonal changes and other negative health effects. I think one thing could possibly explain it. New generation live inactive lifestyles. No excerise. Eat processed frozen foods. This can affect the sperm quality as maybe their tostestrone is low. So can affect gender of offspring. Older generation only ate fresh food and were more active. All in all not sure what exact cause is? But definantly a combination of factors at play causing and imbalance in the gender of today's generation.
  18. This is in no way favoring one over the other as any child is a blessing regardless of gender. However pureley out of curiosity are more daughters being born then sons in recent times? I remember going back with the first generation that arrived in the UK. Those families seem to have had alot more sons then daughters. But when I look these days. It seems the opposite has occured many more daughters are being born then sons. Could this be some kind of environmental factors or just plain natures choice? Could it be related to peoples diet, nutrition exercise??
  19. Singh12 Look what you have started. Im begining to have suspicions about your motive for bringing back all these old threads from the past?
  20. This is an old thread. Looks like you have been searching through the old topics. Anyway. I can understand your frustration and anger to a certain degree. But dont worry about the girls you are refering to. If these fools want to ruin their lifes let them do it. Just concentrate on yourself and the many good apne Sikh women. I dont give these trash women one thought. Who cares if their dating, clubbing and getting up to who knows what. They will realise the hard way when they cant find a marriage partner after they have ruined their reputation and no one will go near them. I know many that are left on the scrapheap after they have lived their dirty and sordid lifes with only regrets. I actually think the situation has improved alot now. Many are more clued up and was not as bad as it used to be thanks to Sikh organisations spreading awareness. Remember any girl that runs off is not worth having in our community. So good riddance.
  21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-49594942 The state of police in the uk. Can they be trusted when they do things like this. This guy is a nutter. Why would he do something like this? Seems like he was off his head. I wonder how many things other police have done that they have got away with. P.s Avi sounds like a hindu name. So presuming he is hindu.
  22. What are Sikhs and Hindus still living in Pakistan. Get the hell out of this muslim country which does not look after care about religious minorities. Hope the perpetrators are hanged for their actions. Khalsa aid needs to get to pakistan and help our people. Instead they go to syria to help muslims. All Sikhs should leave Pakistan and afghansitan. Not sure what the population of apne are there but they need help with migrating back to punjab.
  23. Well I live in London and its a big place as Im sure Birmingham is. I think its worth while travelling far if need be to find a good place that does combat training. Its also worthwhile finding out which is a good one to do. Many are not practical for real life situations. Ie someone comes up to you with a knife or other weapon.
