i play soccer to , do this.... put a wrist band over ur kara... wear your kirpan normally, but put a kamarkasa around it underneath ur shirt, the kirpan wont move at alll... if u usually wear a kachera thats upto ur knees for soccer, since soccer shorts are shorter, wear a smaller kachera...

live like a true gursikh.. your actions will inspire others 1) keep full rehit 2) keep strict amrit-vela 3) see god in all -why was Sant Jarnail Singh able to put so many ppl oon the path of Sikhi.... because he had the kamayeee to back up his word... anyone on the street can talk but no one will listen, but when someone who has kamayee behidn them says something it has an impact...

WJKK WJKF, Take amrit man... you are thinking of taking it that means WAHEGURU HAS DONE KIRPA ON U... u never know when Waheguru will take this away from you... for example sometimes Waheguru wakes us up for amritvela, but we are lazy and dont get up.... than waheguru stops waking us up for amritvela... rite now Waheguru has done KIRPA on u that you want to take amrit, if u keep ignoring it,,, one day waheguru may take away your thirst.....

maybe Sikhs can adapt bingle's idea ... this is what i mean... Sikhs can even have their own ANTI-TERRORISM PROTEST (not anti-muslim)... this will show Sikhs are against Terrorism and raise awareness... you dont have to associate with bingles party... but u can still get the msg across that hurting INNOCENT people is not cool...

the 'services' should be in gurmukhi in the main hall.... but they can have gurmat classes in english, like they have at dixie in toronto... where people discuss sikhi in english... also the projectors with sikhi to the max during keertan is goood, cuz the sangat can read along and read the meanings in english... english is good to get the 'worldly' meaning, but there are much deeper meanigns that you need to understand gurbani to understand.... so english can be used in gurmat class type settings and on the projector, but in the main hall i think they should stick to punjabi...

WJKK WJKF, I was there when the incident happened... 2 yrs ago the Narinder Grewal incident happened, that has lots of sangat on the lookout, he was doing something similar while sitting in sangat, aswell as he ended up keeps 2 wives (one who was oringially married to someone else)... So when someone is doing something similar, sitting in simran moving their hand, and than being surrounded by a bunch of girls, especially on the guys side of the darbar hall, people are going to be suspicious.... You probably had innocent intentions, but you have to realize what type of impression and image you were giving out to the sangat... The girls should also realize there old enough to sit on the ladies side even if their mother is not there, as they all seemed to be in their teens... since you say u had honest intentions, i hope this doesnt discourage you from the sikhi path... and i guess some valuable lessons can be learned ... keep your simran 'gupt' especially body movements, and guys and girls should sit in their proper sections... and it seemed like there were 4-5 girls not 1 or 2 WJKK WJKF

No, the point is to be connected with god 24/7, u can do this while living a family life, while working, while doing anything... eg. Satn jarnail singh ji use to do jap ji sahib paath while working on the farm... u dont have to sit at one spot... back in the days Singhs never use to close their eyes when doing keertan or ardas in guru jis darbar, they use to stand alert with eyes open, becuz sometimes moghuls would dress up as singhs and come attack ppl in teh darbar... singhs always use to do ardas eyes open with a kirpan in their hands... u dont gotta be `stiill`only thing u gotta do is connect ur inside...

YOGA is not a PART OF SIKHI... BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT look if there connected to Waheguru while doing simran, and at the same time there exercising their body (yoga), there doing 2 in 1, nothing wrong with that... just cuz its not a part of sikhi doesnt mean to ban it, aslong as they have the simran running inside them... yoga isnt harming their body its helping their body with all those stretching exercises... but that being said Yoga is fine, but Yoga at camps mite give youth the wrong impression that doing yoga is the correct method of doing simran, so its probly not a good idea of doing yoga at Sikhi camps... ?

Author: akjgreat Date: 06-14-05 04:26 akj kirtan has changed over the years in the past simple tunes which fitted into raag system was used more often often tunes used were very old nowadays proper tunes which fit raag aren't used as commonly, often thats why it seems the shabad/ gurbani being sung does not fit onto the correct note on the vaja people just 'squize' the words being sung into sum random tune i hope sanghat take note of the importance of singing shabads in the raag assigned in siri guru granth sahib. raags are not assigned to shabads for no reason.
