  3. you should see his website. http://www.nijjhar.freeserve.co.uk/sikhism.htm
  4. Dude do you get sangat of sikhs your age? You need to talk to a Gursikh your age, and find the reason why you feel the way you do. If you haven't go to Sikhi camp where you will find others who may have felt the way as you have. Even some of the youth programmes or kids camps.
  5. what u mean by rastafari Rastafarians - They believe the Herb helps with concentration. The only way I could probably best give you an example is Bob Marley. Bhang is bad, and is a drug, and should only be used in the right way.

    Brick Wall

Hey, I went throught similar but not quite as full on. I had a lot of obstecles when growing my hair. One of the toughest was probably family support. - Lack of support - Discouragement One comment I had was " Jaab e paaliya, Baal rakhey" You've put a burden by keeping your hair. This was one comment after dunno how many which unleashed the krodh within me, and I blurted out. "You should be supporting me, Do you know how many things are against me when I try keeping my hair." You just gotta remember to stay strong, and its best not to tell anyone when you first grow your hair, as its a personal. Once you get over the rock star/emo look with your hair look wearing a patka, not nessesarily with the knot on top but like the cricketer monty panesar. If you need any help with getting hold of a patka ask one of your friend who is a Singh, or PM me and I'll send ya one. Once ya hair gets long and theres no other way of styling/controlling it, grab the top bit of ya hair and tie it up(it won't be much) Tie a White ramaal around ya head(to keep the hair in) and practice tieing a pugh. If you need any help ask a Friend which is a Singh, watch online vids or PM me. I first got my cousin to teach me which was the only Singh in my Generation. And then I got Pugh material from a indian material shop. At first the pugh material is always tough and not very soft so you have to soften it with fabric softener. Intially from a shaved head to wearing a pugh it took 8 months, could be less or more. With the psychological side of things, There's no point thinking about how will other people see me, cos your not doing it for them. You'll even get other Singh's saying you that your pugh looks messy or what ever, but don't get disheartened, once you take the step there won't be a need to turn back in the end its worth it trust me! Sir Jaave Ta Jaave, Mera Sikhi Sidak Na Jaave
  9. Looks cool. The middle khanda could be above the top bit of the leaf. and the firey effect is cool, but looks hellish(if such a word) maybe angry - I should be a art critic
  10. Are we truely sikh or christian? Do we truely follow our religion and its teachings? If we did would we really be in such situations....
  11. houmous is the best; tesco have loads of variety, cottage cheese is good if your training; doesn't taste all that nice but with a bit of salt and pepper and salad, goes down a treat. get ya mum to make you piniya, and have it with milk, when ya in a rush, fills you up for a good few hours. ermm... fruit is good, but for some subconcious reason never eat it. jacket potato's the ultimate student food. with cheese n beans, or even with some of that subji mum gave you when you went home. Asda has does a great veggie pizza which they make from fresh, not too sure if the base is made out of something it shouldn't I think we need to make a sikh student cook book
  12. anymore news? or will this keep happening with sikh activists? any chance of uploading that letter, hide your details obviously...
  13. but then surely the british government will have to adapt the hakumnameh from akal thakat for sikhs, and im sure the jewish and the buddhists have there own laws. where will it stop ? and if we want to get away with something people will be able to change religion... which any criminal mind would do to be let off the hook, so to speak

  15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, A great way to find out more is by the website, http://armyjobs.mod.uk/ There are so many jobs within the army you get spoilt for choice, I personally believe that it would be great to have a Sikh regiment, and even though the go ahead was soon dropped due to fears of racism, it wasn't a satisfactory excuse. The more people we have in the army, the closer we may come to such a regiment coming true. Along with Sikhs being in the army more people learn of us and our ways. The type of racism in army as stated in previous posts, as we know only come from the narrow minded and usually the less educated, it may be stereotyped, but in my view would only come from some of the infantry men, regiments such as the Engineers, logistics, intelligence, signals all have men and women working for them with brains. The British army is shaking off this dilemma of it being a racist institution, so anything of the sort will not be tolerated, but please remember army banter will always be present. Also as Sikhs we should always be ready, so great way of increasing our discipline and getting the best training in the world. p.s. In regards of the war on Iraq, even if it was a unjust war, that burden will stay with the politicians consciences for their lives and they will get their comeuppance, when you join, join with the heart to do good, by not harming civilian lives, giving democracy to countries which are enslaved, something we take for granted alot. Also places such as Afghanistan where Sikhs were being persecuted for following their religion. Also don't pay too much attention to the media, they would much rather put the scandal on the front page ranther than a service man givien up his life for this country.
  16. imagine if people started thinking it was fashionable to be like that ? and everyone started looking like that!? how would we be distinguished as sikhs ?
  17. i would double check before going, I was on my way to one gurdwara sahib near cologne in germany, and when i got there found out the gurdwara sahib was closed, wouldn't be too bad if I had a car, but public transport doesn't do you any favours, especially in another country with a different language
  18. i bought a grooming brush from boots just wet ya dhari and brush easy doesn't look as much of a mess.
  19. tried downloading the morning nitnem, it keeps appearing with page mot found
  20. I keep seeing these posts in immediate sikh forums, but never on the further media... until we don't get more coverage of this type of media to the rest of the sikh community won't know
