  1. I didn't think of that, you've got a point!
  2. Well, according to the papers this morning 20,000 do care. So much so, they have complained to Offcom and Ch4 themselves. Personal issues aside, the media is a powerful tool and unfortunatly shapes peoples thoughts, lifestyles and preferences. The issue addressed has made the British people think about the potential part one can play as a bully without even realising.
  3. aap aapni budhi hai jaiti barnt bhinun bhinun taiti tumra lkha na jaeh psara keh bidhi prthm sunsara. (17) Every one according to their understanding, describes You differently. The limits of Your creation cannot be known, nor how in the beginning You wrought the Universes. (17) (Patshai Dasvi Kabio Vach Bainti Chaupai) Maharaj tells us that each person’s budhi (understanding) is different, therefore each persons understanding is different. If Jesus, Budha and Mohammed etc only had the vision up Gian Khand then that’s because of the budhi they were give by Sri Akal Purakh as Sri Akal Purakh did not show them Sach Khand. We, as followers of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj have been given the method of realising sach khand but that doesn’t mean we need to sit there and scrutinise those that do not yet have the same budhi.

  5. The first day of magh, which is one day after the lohri day. On my SGPC calender, they call it Magh da Mela-Mukhtsar. Funny how we have forgotten that!!

    Palki

There's some elderly man somewhere in Ilford that hand makes palki sahibs. I will get his details and post them on.
  7. No comments on the website layout. But something which seems to be disheartening (especially down London ways) is the lack of keshdharis involved in Ghatka akharas. The pictures on the Baba Fateh Singh Akhara website in Goodmayes clearly shows this. (http://www.bfs-goodmayes.com/) We need to make sure we don’t narrow Ghatka or Shastar Vidya down to a mere martial art as a pose to a form of bhagti handed down to us from Sri Akal Purakh.
  8. Our Guru's led by example, they led ghristi jeevens and did not promote any form of a gay lifestyle!!. All Sikhs of the Guru are role models, therefore a Gursikh must realise that they are a living representation of GurMaryada to the world. Our actions (mental & physical) represent outGuru's teachings. We have a responsiblity of attempting to be a true Sikh to our Guru and the Khalsa Panth. If we want to remain on the path of Guru ji then people like your friend have to battle and overcome their homos*xual feelings because no rehatnama, no sakhia, on tuks of Gurbani supports a homos*xual lifestyle just like a promiscious hetros*xual lifestyle is not promoted.
  9. "Akal Purakh (Waheguru) established all creation in two parts, for example, man/woman; night/day; birth/death; youth/old age; sunlight/darkness; earth/sky and sorrow/happiness etc. Akal Purakh has established this meaningful system. The day is for working and the night is for resting. Married life is for procreation, so that life may continue" I think all faiths preach the above in some form or other!
  10. I understand what you are saying and have been thinking like that lately too. I was at someones house a few weeks ago and we were sitting in the lounge downstairs, chatting away. It was about 8 pm when the Singh (whose house we were in) turns around to me and said that he needed to do Maharaj's Sukhasan. I was pretty shocked, not to mention upset and angry with myself that if there is Guru Ji's parkash in this house, how come we don't act like we are in the Gurdwara Sahib. Firstly the Singh, whose house it was, should have informed all guests that there is Guru jis Parkash in the house and secondly if Guru Ji's parkash is in someones house then there is no difference between being in a Gurdwara Sahib and entering that house. You wouldn't sit and watch TV all night in the Gurdwara or sleep on beds etc. Looking after Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's pavitar saroop is a BIG sewa and we should really think about our actions and protocol all the time!!
  11. What's funny is a rumour can be started so easily on SS forum! Find out whether it's true before you decide to slap him up!!! I am sorry, an e-mail rumour is not enough to go on and some dodgy picture doesn't mean anything. Well here the mans number 020 8581 1598 and let's all ask him if he would really make a sucidal statement that he's is the 11th Guru of the Sikhs!! Here's their website http://www.kalimata.co.uk/. Can someone please find me the alleged claim the man is making? If you guys really want to see who openly makes claims to being the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and even 15th Guru of the Sikhs then visit your local naamdhari temple or visit http://www.<banned site filter activated>/frame.htm Right! Called the number (about 20 times) and finally got to speak to someone at 4.30pm-. I stated that there are reports on the a Sikh internet forum that the "babaji" in your mandir claims he is the 11th Guru of the Sikhs. The man, who called himself a "sewak", claimed that "guru ji" (as they described him) would never make such that claim and is only dedicated to doing Gods work by working with the homeless. I asked what literature they produce, to which he said to come to the mandir and see whatever literature they produce and to also see the work they do. He said they have a growing sangat and there are always accusations form people about "guru ji" (as they kept describing him). Does anyone have any other legitimate proof besides the e-mail? Instead of working off rumours, does someone from Hayes/Southall want to visit the mandir and pick all their literature up?

  13. Thanks for the posting. Out of curiosity, where was the document found?
  14. Is that the finest comment you can come out with!!!?? How fun it is to some to pile into another faith!!! I am sure your proud of yourself!!
  15. Taken from Bhai Rama Singhs autobiography. “Bhai Sahib Ji, is it important to live the life of a house-holder?” “Yes, if an individual is seeking salvation then the family life is important. If one attempts to do meditation without being married, then the mind will remain unstable. This is the Age of Kalyug and the unstable mind continuously runs towards worldly attractions and wasteful life style. It takes many years of simran to stabilise the wandering mind. Even then lust is a great evil force and will continue to trouble the mind. Most of the great avatars (saints and prophets) who came to this world, were married. Of the Ten Gurus nine were married (Sri Har Krishan Ji's Light merged with Waheguru Ji when He was only 8 years old). Sri Ram Chandar Ji, Bhagwan Krishan, Shiv Ji, Mahatma Budh, Brahma and Muhammed Sahib, they all had families. So, it is important to get married. Akal Purakh (Waheguru) established all creation in two parts, for example, man/woman; night/day; birth/death; youth/old age; sunlight/darkness; earth/sky and sorrow/happiness etc. Akal Purakh has established this meaningful system. The day is for working and the night is for resting. Married life is for procreation, so that life may continue. Those saadhus and sants who say that one should not get married are breaking the Divine Law. However, there are other great saints who did not get married because they were sent for preaching religion; they have been sent by Guru Ji Himself. Examples of such holy people are: Sant Baba Atar Singh Ji Mastuanay-waalay, Sant Baba Karam Singh Ji Hoti Mardan, Sant Baba Jwala Singh Ji Harkhowal, Sant Baba Gurmukh Singh Ji Patialay-waalay, Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Rare-waalay, Sant Baba Bhan Singh Jagraon, Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji Kaleran-waalay and many others; no one can equal their saintliness. They would recite Bani all night and do simran . It is my own experience how troublesome lust can be when one engages in Waheguru meditation. I too spent life as a family man for five or six years. I used medicine too to control this distracting force. From the day I was blessed by Guru Ji's darshan , my mind did not waver. This was a gift of Naam . My life changed. For controlling this distracting influence, it is necessary to do simran for 10 to 12 hours a day. Then a stage is reached where lust cannot trouble a devotee. Some Gursikhs ask me, “Being family people, how can we do so many hours of simran ?” The way this can be done is that if two members of a family sit together to do Paatths of Nit Nem and Sukhmani and simran , then it becomes a Sangat and the reward doubles. In the same way while doing daily chores one should keep reciting all the Bani one knows by heart. Proceeding in this way, with Guru Ji's blessing, one achieves spiritual success while living a normal family life.”
  16. Dear everyone getting excited, This picture's come on SS before. Now, is this just hearsay or is there any prove!!! Before getting excited on the internet has anyone spoken to this "baba" and his chelay. Is there a recording of what he says or any literature? Put some proof on the internet (a dodgy picture's not enough to go on).
  17. Nama Singh, Militant Singh etc. On one thread you lot back up dancing, dumalla wearing DJs (Tigerstyle) and another thread you seem to get offended when the other Singhs are dancing at a nagar kirtan. Double standards or ignorance or just following the majority?? Dancing and Sikhi don't mix!!!! And the video clearly shows this!!!
  18. lol. It’s all about “the jatha”! When will you guys look beyond “the jatha”. There are probably another 200 kirtan darbars being carried out in the UK on the same night, but all people are worried about is these 2 by “the jatha”. Just go to the Gurdwara and enjoy yourself and stop worrying about the next man!
  19. parabh kaa simran sabh tay oochaa. The remembrance of God is the highest and most exalted of all. parabh kai simran uDhray moochaa. In the remembrance of God, many are saved. parabh kai simran tarisnaa bujhai. In the remembrance of God, thirst is quenched. parabh kai simran sabh kichh sujhai. In the remembrance of God, all things are known. parabh kai simran naahee jam taraasaa. In the remembrance of God, there is no fear of death. parabh kai simran pooran aasaa. In the remembrance of God, hopes are fulfilled. parabh kai simran man kee mal jaa-ay. In the remembrance of God, the filth of the mind is removed. amrit naam rid maahi samaa-ay. The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is absorbed into the heart. parabh jee baseh saaDh kee rasnaa. God abides upon the tongues of His Saints. naanak jan kaa daasan dasnaa. ||4|| Nanak is the servant of the slave of His slaves. ||4||
  20. What do we really expect from these one liner macho statements on the forum?? Does this kind of statement sum up the attitude of youth who turn to these one day protesting events!
  21. Speak to the Sikh Federation (UK) who should be able to arrange a local represantative. Nirvair Khalsa is probably the best person to help you out.
  22. Part of me understands the actions of the young Gursikh, but I still think pointing fingers at the police is a futile exercise. One of the things we must realise, if the protesting route is chosen, is to expect a heavy handed riot police presence and expect that their actions will probably end up being inconsiderate and insensitive to the passions of the protesters. In order to combat this, build the bridges with the authorities and create a line of respectful communication to educate them on how to handle volatile situations. If there was a communicative relationship with the authorities before hand than assume it was still not strong enough and work on building a better rapport. Whatever beadbi happened in Ek Niwas before or during that day, one of the paramount things the Singhs who led this campaign can still do is to carry out national Sri Akhand Paths around the UK and seek forgiveness for what the Police done or what Ek Niwas done or even what they done (just like the Gursikhs did in 1924 after the Jaito Morcha where 100 Sri Akhand Paths were carried around the Punjab even though the beadbi of breaking the Akhand Path at Jaito was done by the British Government). A sewa like this would create awareness at a national level within our Sikh sangata and would probably muster more internal support than protests.
  23. We are all struggling to be "real" Sikhs, I mean all of us. Don't even need to look at if from a Sikh point of view, look at it from a humanitarian point of view!
