  1. As someone who lives not too far from the Gurdwara Sahib, I have to say what an absolute waste of money. This gurdwara hardly has a huge amount of sangat, half the time the place is empty- more sangat goes to seven kings (the partner gurdwara of this one). Either way the buildings for both gurdware serve the purpose fine. Rather than this why don't they focus on actually doing some decent programs. If anything spend some money on getting us a decent car park!! If there ever is an actual good program most people have to spend half of it looking for a space before they decide to go home lol. While families of shaheed singhs are dying in Punjab, how can we justify spending god knows how much on unnecessary building developments?
  2. You will not recieve the true answer to this question from anyone on a forum. You will not get the answer to this from anyone full stop. The only one who can give you this answer is Guru Sahib himself. The only reason Guru Sahib even came to this world is to give updesh of naam. The whole point of Guru Sahib is to give you the answer to this question. Guru Sahib's way of telling you this is by giving you amrit (khande di pahul) and making you read Gurbani. Naam is to be experienced, not read about.
  3. Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jeeo Maharaj is above either of these two things and he is both things. Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jeeo Maharaj is EVERYTHING. To his Gursikh, there is nothing beyond Guru Sahib and there is nothing Guru Sahib is not. Do not worry about these things, just shower him with your love and receive his love for you. The Divine Guru is the Mantra of the Lord's Name; chanting it, one is saved. ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਪਾਪੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਾ ॥ O God, please be merciful to me, that I may be with the Divine Guru; I am a foolish sinner, but holding onto Him, I am carried across. ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਰਾ ॥੧॥ The Divine Guru is the True Guru, the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord; Nanak bows in humble reverence to the Lord, the Divine Guru. ||1||
  4. No doubt that Pujji was a war hero, but I don't agree with the Sikh community honouring him in particular as a Sikh war hero. To the contrary, Guru Sahib in Gurbani has clearly told us that no matter how brave someone may be or how many feats they have accomplished, without naam and without Guru Sahib it all counts as nothing. Now Pujji was a PATIT - he had a dastar and then cut his kes, stating he has changed his religious views. From a Gurmat angle he became a NIGURA (this term is found within gurbani). Guru Sahib says, sathigur baajhahu gur nehee koee nigurae kaa hainaao buraa ||13|| Without the True Guru, there is no Guru at all; one who is without a Guru has a bad reputation. ||13|| In actual fact it is disrespectful to Guru Sahib for any Sikh to honour him.
  5. I am shocked by the manmat advice being given here. Under no circumstances should you go to any such event. Countless gursikhs who do kirat kamai are invited to these events and don't attend. You are not answerable to any of these people, your rozi roti is in the hands of Guru Sahib alone. It is strictly forbidden for Gursikhs to go to such places. To even step foot inside such an environment is compromising your sikhi and naam abhiyaas. Bhai Rama Singh Ji has compared going into such places like walking into a room full of soot - it is impossible for anyone who enters to leave without some level of being covered in it! Just think - just as going into sat sangat makes your bhagti easier and gives you an environment condusive for guNs (virtues) to increase within, going into kusangat (bad sangat), gives your vikaars (inner bad qualities) an environment to become stronger. The ideal would be to explain exactly why it is against your rehat, but if thats not possible, there is no harm in using a sensible excuse, this does not count as speaking jhoot. Bhai Gurdas Jee says: ਕਾਹੂ ਦਸਾਕੇ ਪਵਨ ਗਵਨ ਕੈ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੈ, ਕਾਹੂ ਦਸਾਕੇ ਪਵਨ ਬਾਦਰ ਬਿਲਾਤ ਹੈ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਲ ਪਾਨ ਕੀਏ ਰਹਤ ਅਰੋਗ ਦੋਹੀ, ਕਾਹੂ ਜਲ ਪਾਨ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਬਿਲਲਾਤ ਹੈ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਪਾਕ ਸਾਕ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਰੈ, ਕਾਹੂ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਭਵਨੁ ਜਗਤ ਹੈ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੁਇ, ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਮੁਪੁਰਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ॥549॥ 1. Air of some direction is such that results in rainfall and air of some direction is such that disburses the clouds. 2. Some kind of water results in making the body healthy but drinking some kind of water results in the person crying in pain. 3. Fire in some houses helps in cooking food and fire in some houses burns the whole house down. 4. Company of some (people) results in making one Jeevan Mukat and company (Sangat) of some (people) takes one to Jampur (hell).

  7. I take it you concede then that some pain is given to an animal even whet jhatka is performed, albeit ''minimised'. Can you please tell me where Gurbani, our Guru has given a Sikh permission to give an innocent being pain?

  10. In Sikhi, both nadar (grace) and karma (fruits of actions of past lives) have a role to play in what happens in our life. What happens to a person could be a result of karma, could be a result of nadar, or a mixture of both, e.g. a bad event meant to happen due to karma is reduced to a less bad event thanks to Nadar of Vaheguroo. There is also a third element at play, the grace of Gurmukhs/Sants - such sants are parupkari (merciful to others) and so pray to Vaheguroo to take on some of the bad karma of another person, the event will then happen to that person. Even when God's nadar comes into play to save someone, it does not mean that such a person is a 'good person' or that conversely someone who something bad happens to is a 'bad person', it just means that vaheguroo decided to intervene based on one thing about that person that pleased him to act at that moment. For someone something bad to happens, if the result is that Vaheguroo leads them onto bhagti it is in fact a great mercy of vaheguroo as as Guru Sahib has said, 'dukh daroo sukh rog bhaiea ja sukh thaam no hoee' - "Suffering is the medicine, and pleasure the disease, because where there is pleasure, there is no desire for God." In Sikhi karam philosophy is different from Hindu karam philosophy where the grace of God has no role and karma is all powerful. In Sikhi the effects of bad karma can be reduced by the grace of Vaheguroo and/or Sants. Please watch this video for further information on Karam Philosophy specifically in Gurmat:

Firstly, Guru Sahib has stated the ages at which people are counted in the different stages of life: ਮਃ ੧ ॥ Ma 1 || First Mehl: ਦਸ ਬਾਲਤਣਿ ਬੀਸ ਰਵਣਿ ਤੀਸਾ ਕਾ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥ Dhas Baalathan Bees Ravan Theesaa Kaa Sundhar Kehaavai || At the age of ten, he is a child; at twenty, a youth, and at thirty, he is called handsome. ਚਾਲੀਸੀ ਪੁਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਪਚਾਸੀ ਪਗੁ ਖਿਸੈ ਸਠੀ ਕੇ ਬੋਢੇਪਾ ਆਵੈ ॥ Chaaleesee Pur Hoe Pachaasee Pag Khisai Sathee Kae Bodtaepaa Aavai || At forty, he is full of life; at fifty, his foot slips, and at sixty, old age is upon him. ਸਤਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਤਿਹੀਣੁ ਅਸੀਹਾਂ ਕਾ ਵਿਉਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ Sathar Kaa Mathiheen Aseehaan Kaa Viouhaar N Paavai || At seventy, he loses his intellect, and at eighty, he cannot perform his duties. ਨਵੈ ਕਾ ਸਿਹਜਾਸਣੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਪ ਬਲੁ ॥ Navai Kaa Sihajaasanee Mool N Jaanai Ap Bal || At ninety, he lies in his bed, and he cannot understand his weakness. ਢੰਢੋਲਿਮੁ ਢੂਢਿਮੁ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗੁ ਧੂਏ ਕਾ ਧਵਲਹਰੁ ॥੩॥ Dtandtolim Dtoodtim Ddith Mai Naanak Jag Dhhooeae Kaa Dhhavalehar ||3|| After seeking and searching for such a long time, O Nanak, I have seen that the world is just a mansion of smoke. ||3|| (Ang 138) Now there are many shabads where Guru Sahib talks about what activities a person is involved in at particular stages of life, from birth right through to old age. The below shabad is just one example - family life (i.e. marriage and children) is clearly placed into the THIRD stage of life - YOUTH, clearly distinct from the second stage of life which is childhood. The childhood stage of life bears no mention of the child having any responsibility, instead it is considered a stage of life where the child is completely under the care of their parents and is still being brought up. Also please note that the 'HE' is only part of the English translation and not the original Gurmukhi, this shabad, like all of Gurbani applies to both men and women. ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ Sireeraag Mehalaa 4 || Siree Raag, Fourth Mehl: ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਉਦਰ ਮੰਝਾਰਿ ॥ Pehilai Peharai Rain Kai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Har Paaeiaa Oudhar Manjhaar || In the first watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the Lord places you in the womb. ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਿ ॥ Har Dhhiaavai Har Oucharai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Har Har Naam Samaar || You meditate on the Lord, and chant the Lord's Name, O my merchant friend. You contemplate the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਗਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ॥ Har Har Naam Japae Aaraadhhae Vich Aganee Har Jap Jeeviaa || Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and meditating on it within the fire of the womb, your life is sustained by dwelling on the Naam. ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਰਸੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤ ਥੀਵਿਆ ॥ Baahar Janam Bhaeiaa Mukh Laagaa Sarasae Pithaa Maath Thheeviaa || You are born and you come out, and your mother and father are delighted to see your face. ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਕਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ Jis Kee Vasath This Chaethahu Praanee Kar Hiradhai Guramukh Beechaar || Remember the One, O mortal, to whom the child belongs. As Gurmukh, reflect upon Him within your heart. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ Kahu Naanak Praanee Pehilai Peharai Har Japeeai Kirapaa Dhhaar ||1|| Says Nanak, O mortal, in the first watch of the night, dwell upon the Lord, who shall shower you with His Grace. ||1|| ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ Dhoojai Peharai Rain Kai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Man Laagaa Dhoojai Bhaae || In the second watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the mind is attached to the love of duality. ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਲੀਐ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਲੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ Maeraa Maeraa Kar Paaleeai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Lae Maath Pithaa Gal Laae || Mother and father hug you close in their embrace, claiming, ""He is mine, he is mine""; so is the child brought up, O my merchant friend. ਲਾਵੈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਗਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਖਟਿ ਖਵਾਏ ॥ Laavai Maath Pithaa Sadhaa Gal Saethee Man Jaanai Khatt Khavaaeae || Your mother and father constantly hug you close in their embrace; in their minds, they believe that you will provide for them and support them. ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੂੜਾ ਦਿਤੇ ਨੋ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥ Jo Dhaevai Thisai N Jaanai Moorraa Dhithae No Lapattaaeae || The fool does not know the One who gives; instead, he clings to the gift. ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ Koee Guramukh Hovai S Karai Veechaar Har Dhhiaavai Man Liv Laae || Rare is the Gurmukh who reflects upon, meditates upon, and within his mind, is lovingly attached to the Lord. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥ Kahu Naanak Dhoojai Peharai Praanee This Kaal N Kabehoon Khaae ||2|| Says Nanak, in the second watch of the night, O mortal, death never devours you. ||2|| ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਗਾ ਆਲਿ ਜੰਜਾਲਿ ॥ Theejai Peharai Rain Kai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Man Lagaa Aal Janjaal || In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend, your mind is entangled in worldly and household affairs. ਧਨੁ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਵੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ Dhhan Chithavai Dhhan Sanchavai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Har Naamaa Har N Samaal || You think of wealth, and gather wealth, O my merchant friend, but you do not contemplate the Lord or the Lord's Name. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਸਮਾਲੈ ਜਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਖਾਈ ॥ Har Naamaa Har Har Kadhae N Samaalai J Hovai Anth Sakhaaee || You never dwell upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, who will be your only Helper and Support in the end. ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਝੂਠੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਈ ॥ Eihu Dhhan Sanpai Maaeiaa Jhoothee Anth Shhodd Chaliaa Pashhuthaaee || This wealth, property and Maya are false. In the end, you must leave these, and depart in sorrow. ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ Jis No Kirapaa Karae Gur Maelae So Har Har Naam Samaal || Those whom the Lord, in His Mercy, unites with the Guru, reflect upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੩॥ Kahu Naanak Theejai Peharai Praanee Sae Jaae Milae Har Naal ||3|| Says Nanak, in the third watch of the night, O mortal, they go, and are united with the Lord. ||3|| ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਣ ਵੇਲਾ ਆਦੀ ॥ Chouthhai Peharai Rain Kai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Har Chalan Vaelaa Aadhee || In the fourth watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the Lord announces the time of departure. ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਭ ਚਲੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਦੀ ॥ Kar Saevahu Pooraa Sathiguroo Vanajaariaa Mithraa Sabh Chalee Rain Vihaadhee || Serve the Perfect True Guru, O my merchant friend; your entire life-night is passing away. ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਢਿਲ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਕਰਿਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਹੋਵਹੁ ॥ Har Saevahu Khin Khin Dtil Mool N Karihu Jith Asathhir Jug Jug Hovahu || Serve the Lord each and every instant-do not delay! You shall become eternal throughout the ages. ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਸਦ ਮਾਣਹੁ ਰਲੀਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਖੋਵਹੁ ॥ Har Saethee Sadh Maanahu Raleeaa Janam Maran Dhukh Khovahu || Enjoy ecstasy forever with the Lord, and do away with the pains of birth and death. ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਖਾਂਦੀ ॥ Gur Sathigur Suaamee Bhaedh N Jaanahu Jith Mil Har Bhagath Sukhaandhee || Know that there is no difference between the Guru, the True Guru, and your Lord and Master.   16. The quote from Bhai Nand Lal Ji from my post is a direct command from Guru Sahib to Gursikhs not to wear a topi. The reason for this is that Gursikhs have been given hukam to wear dastaar or at the very least a keski if indoors/in a relaxed setting. Its really very straightforward. Its one of the most basic hukams of Gursikhi that there is. As for the gurbani thuk from Bhagat Kabeer Ji, the first thing I am going to do is ignore the horrible English translation which is equally inaccurate in numerous other places, and instead refer to an actual respected teeka such as Faridkot teeka of the nirmalas. A rough translation of the faridkot arths would be: "Kabeer, when you start having love with the One, the duality which separates us from Paramatma goes away, and until this mindset of duality doesnt go away, whether you give yourself long dreadlocks etc. or whether you finely shave your head i.e. meaning you become an ascetic, both of these actions are pointless. He who having loved God becomes totally one with the anand of being with God, then whether he grows his hair long meaning he is totally involved with family life (parvirtri) or whether he shaves his head bald, i.e. abandons everything (tyaag), he gets no benefit or loss (puneh haan) at all." So clearly these tuks aren't literally talking about the sole actions of growing hair or shaving it, but are used to refer to the lifestyles (in hinduism) that they represent - being in grihst jeevan or being an ascetic. The long hair being referred to in this tuk is nothing to do with the practice of keeping kesh as hukam from Guru Sahib - they are two totally different concepts. Once again, these tuks simply mean that to someone who becomes in love with God - being an parvitri (represented by growing out hair - pre sikh dharam) or being an ascetic (represented by shaving hair), are of no use to such a person. The hukam of growing kesh and the reason behind this hukam are completely unrelated to the practice of growing hair that Bhagat Kabeer Ji is referring to as for Gursikhs the main idea behind keeping kesh is out of simple love for Guru Sahib - Guru's mohar. This is totally different to what Bhagat Ji is calling unimportant. To the contrary, all of Gurbani is telling us to please Guru Sahib by following his hukam. Similar response to the second shabad you posted. In regards to spirituality. I would personally say that yes over time when one reaches pooran avastha such a soul doesn't really NEED to follow rehat like the rest of us do - as everything is dharam to them. However, I have no doubt that out of love and kurbani to the one who gave them that avastha (Satguru) such souls would actually continue to follow his pyare bachan, especially visible hukams when they are in positions of leadership! However, you have got to be kidding me if you want to say that this can apply to the particular baba in question! I mean come on, if someone really reached such high pooran avastha that they they were indeed above reheat, do you think that such nimrata vale sants would flount it by wearing hats and whatnot? Or would they rather show gratitude to the rehat that helped get them where they are and encourage others to follow it by carrying on keeping it?
  17. Any places which serve alcohol and meat are a complete no go for Gursikhs! Also we should only socialise with Gursikhs- have a good working relationship but nothing more than that. Tell me, what time does a gursikh have for socialising? We do our kamayee so we can live and because it is hukam from Guru Sahib, other than that spend your time with Gursikhs and do your own kamayee. Just smile and say that you don't really like environments where there is alcohol and meat.   19. I'm not trying to sound mean but when watching kirtan by many of their kirtanis, personally I can really feel the dikhava (showing off) jumping out of the screen. Furthermore I remember watching a smagam on tv a few months back, there was a neeldhari singh doing katha, at the end he and his wife were called for sirope, right there on stage infront of everyone, in guru sahib's hazoori, this neeldhari singh's wife did matha tek to a Nanaksar Sant who who was standing up to give the sirope. I wonder, should people who lack such basic concepts of gurmat, who set such ridiculous examples to to the sangat, be doing parchar? Note: the Nanaksar Sant isn't to blame, he didn't encourage her to do that and he wasn't a party to it. I just find it funny that the neeldhari who considers himself fit to sit on stage teaching the sangat can not even tell his wife the basic concept of not matha teking anyone but Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, at the very least not in Guru Ji's hazoori infront of thousands of sangat! Edit: just realised that this neeldhari singh who I am talking about is none other than the man they call 'pipli wale sant'! What a joke! Its unbelievable how so many in the panth are being taken in by their flashy shows. I believe the people in the below video are neeldharis, I don't even need to comment here, the video speaks for itself. This is far from gursikhi, Gurbani shabad is to take us inside of ourselves.

  21. vaheguroojikakhalsavaheguroojikifateh jeeo A thought that I've had at the back of my mind for a while now... are there no contemporary paintings of well known sikh figures from the past? The issue of portraits of Guru Sahib is a different one, but I find it hard to believe that no one, for example the Mughals, would not make any paintings of their most wanted enemies such as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Baba Deep Singh Ji, or of the executions that they carried out, e.g. Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Ji or Bhai Taru Singh Ji. Does anyone know what the deal with this is? I am also curious that none of our historians made any paintings themselves, would Sikhs not have made paintings of great gurmukhs such as Bhai Gurdas? I can only imagine on this point that perhaps Sikhs were very firm on not making any depictions of people. What are the earliest depictions of Sikhs that we have?
