  1. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! You got it right on. When someone asks you why is sikhi right... its because it preaches love for God, love for all, and it does away with all the useless rituals that do nothing to bring you closer to that Goal. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  2. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Actually, there is another topic dealing with those: and the overall consensus was that yes, it IS bad considering how the animals are treated. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  3. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Well, the person who wrote that IS wrong in a way, no amritdhari wants a wife who doesn't follow the same path he does. But she is right in a way I've seen first hand. The families of a lot of girls put a lot of pressure on their daughters to not take amrit, to cut their hair, to make them an easy sell for someone else. They have little value for sikhi, and even those who do start breaking other rules like considering caste, creed, the guy's "pind" and other such things which go against the word and meaning of sikhi. 4. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Well for honey, at least in North America the bees aren't killed: they are put to sleep using smoke, the honey is taken from the hive, and then the smoke is removed, and the bees continue on their way. As for silk, you are right, the cocoon is usually boiled to kill the moth inside to preserve a single long silk thread, and then unraveled. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  5. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! If you say only a Guru can judge if you are a bad Sikh, only your parents can judge if you are a bad son. asking here won't give you your answers. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  6. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! One answer. Decide whats best for yourself. The only thing you have to remember is that as an amritdhari gursikh, you have to make sure that whoever you end up with shares your beliefs, your thoughts, your ideas. It shouldn't matter WHO approaches you. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  7. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! You may have to respect your parents, but it doesn't mean that you have to blindly do what they tell you. Gurbani tells us that at the end of the day, your friends, family, and everything you have will not go with you... only Vaheguroo is everlasting. Sometimes, its hard. But you have to do what's RIGHT. And following your heart, and your Guru, is the right thing to do. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! PS: For those who disagree, we need only to look at Guru Nanak's life... he openly disobeyed his fathers wishes (giving food to the homeless, refusing to follow hindu ceremonies), because he did what he knew was right. Our Gurus led by example.

  9. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! To me, the LAST thing you should do is format and reinstall windows. Do a virus and spyware scan. (But before, make sure your virus and spyware software is updated). Also, if you goto http://safety.live.com, there is a free online one that you should try. Also, check your "add/remove programs" in your Control Panel and look for anything that you don't remember installing. If it looks funny, chances are that it shouldn't be there. Only after doing all of that, and with no help in the problem should you do the drastic thing and wipe everything clean. (remember to back up your data first!) Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! 10. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Actually this quote, really means the opposite of "you must wear turbans". Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    Pesh

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Yup, just for the bujjhar kureits. For other mistakes, you can do ardaas to Guru Granth Sahib for forgiveness. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  12. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Wow, some of these people are crazy... lol. No filter can be 100% successful to remove contaminants, although they try. So bottled water was originally ice, (no bacterial growth), then it turns into cold water (slow bacterial growth). However, once bottled, its often kept @ room temperature, where bacteria can grow relatively fast. So a best before date is probably for that reason. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  13. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! There are 2 different discussions going one here, one is can guru do miracles (answer yes), and the other, more important one here, did this really happen based on this eye witness? Every story i have heard of the first amrit sanchaar stated that each gursikh was taken to a closed tent, where the "beheading" and amrit was taken place. That means it was CLOSED. NO ONE can see inside. So all of the descriptions must be false, because no one could have been inside to see it. Also, Guru Gobind Singh asked his new panj pyarai to give him amrit just like he gave them... and they didn't behead him (because I believe this part was done in public... but here I could be wrong). So its likely that Guru Sahib never behead his punj pyarai either. The point it, all these fake stories are what are keeping people away from sikhi. Sikhi is about the TRUTH, and all these babai telling this nonsense to young kids, makes these kids when they grow up say "this is all nonsense, none of this could have happened, its all false, wrong, and i want no part of it". Then they shave their head and leave. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  14. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! What is the "format question" ? Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  15. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! A keertan program that usually lasts several days. Usually starts at amritvela, and finishes around night time (ie: all day). Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  16. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I refuse to bow. Sat-sri-akal, then a Fateh, then a hug or handshake. Needless to say, people often look perplexed, but I save my head for my Guru. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  17. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! There are always options. A meat product is a meat product. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  18. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Part of the answer might be to tighten up who sikhs are. The majority of those who reject others are not really sikhs by themselves, they are the monai, the people who call themselves "punjabi" and think that gurdwara is a social gathering. If we have committes of gursikhs only, amritdharis preferably, then that would begin to shift the gurdwara towards sikhi goals. Those that are just there for fun will leave, and those that are left, the true sikhs, will be accepting of all races. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  19. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Trust me, its a power short issue. The ONLY solution is to find out what is causing it... Either: 1. Your fans arn't working, so it overheats and shuts itself down 2. Something inside the computer is loose, so it shorts 3. Your motherboard is touching the outside of your computer a little, so when it shakes, it touches it and shorts 4. Your power cables are loose. There really isn't any "easy" way to fix it. If its a loose power connection, you gotta tighten it... no way around it. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  20. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Sounds either: your power connections are loose... (double check them!) that includes the cable to the computer, the plugin, the powerbar, anything. or worst case, you have a short in your computer, that something touches the sides and shorts out and shuts down the computer. Bumb!?!?

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! *bump* Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  22. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Well obviously the final version must have been compiled by Sri Guru Gobind Singh jee, because it has his bani (Kabio Bach Benti Chaupai Sahib) in it! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  23. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Actually, i think its a good thing its in your library. Remember, WE see it as a Guru. Others do not. If its available at any book repository for anyone to read, that's just knowledge to them. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  24. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Certainly not Canada. The cultural atmosphere here actually would support those who do wear turbans more. I can see that being a problem in the states though. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  25. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! lol, i love the above crazy answers. Tell him as a friend that what he says is untrue, that many women, like yourself, don't want a clean-shaven Singh. Don't go outright and tell him about your feelings, but see if he changes his mind on his own. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
