I think this first sentence refers to the nature of duality, that by getting comfort (usually in the form of $$$ or gifts) it doesn't take away pain or sorrow. This is because they are not complete opposites which can cancel each other out. 2. This refers to that said above, in that a person has both with them at any given time, and only Waheguru can judge what is pleasure and what is pain. 3. I'm not sure about this last line... it seems a little off topic, probably due to the translations...
