  1. (umm how come no one really wishes anyone happy birthday regardless of if they know that person or no?...it always boggles my mind...how in person if we find out its someones birthday we all go "happy birthday" and what not...and here...we only rply if we know that person?..jus my observation over the years) again I WANT THAT CAKE@H.Singh lol
  2. HAPPPY BIRTHDAY!!! i hope u liked the cake i sent ya and r enjoying ur day. May waheguru keep u in chardikalla all the time!=) enjoy ur _7th year ....and make the best out of it...may guru sahib bless u with seva, and simran....may u enjoy every sec of ur _7th year...dont forget...each year is as imp as the next (u know it..but wanted to make sure that i have annoyed u to the point wher u will send me a piece of cake on ur 'special' day next yr jkz) waheguru ang sang sahai always!
  3. oh vahegurooo hahahahaha maajis are sooo cuteeee!!! lol...vaheguru! the love and respect *sigh* i miss it
  4. get urself out of this and start working. i know how u kind of feel... my case is bit different (but i kow i might have gotten myself into the same pit) ...i went on vacation lol nd then heard some people tell me how i made a "mistake" by taking that vacation when i should have been looking for a job and what not. i usually dont share my experiences or tell people much...reason could be that i know im running my own race and im not competing with the "world" at all. PLUS our problems are all relative to the state of our mind, which includes the negative/positive influence of people around us. what i mean by our problems are relative.. is, that today i might think this is a problem...and i tell u all about it...but tom i might not think of the prev problem as a problem, but in ur mind that problem is stuck> she has this problem (or whatever my experience have been of that day) if one ends up with people who are negative or our mind is just feedin us negativity, and comparing itse;f to othrs....it makes it hard for us to get out of the negativity/vicious cycle, and do something about it. job is a job...just know that...and know ur reason for why u actually gotten ur "education" for? go on ur own pace, seriously!!! and dont ever compare urself to put urself down...u are so beautiful, intelligent, and veryyyy powerful. waheguru's joyt is in u...which will make u shine and bring chardikalla if u just surrender. just know that every "obstacle" in our way is for a reason, and might be there to protect us from bigger problems =) let go of the fear and dont let anyone make u feel superior or inferior ~vaheguru~ if u want to talk, just message me and i will try my best to help with waheguru's kirpa. and if i cant i'll get u to talk to some chardikalla souls who will guide u to see the beauty within urself. much love bhul chuk muaff karni
  5. i love the above 4=) can listen to them over and over again. challa version and jugni is amazing
  6. so we in english class now?...and u know i always asked u to teach me some...but u dont have time at all=( jk yea ji all languages are beautiful=)
  7. i thik it just seems rude to us, who speak Punjabi or Spanish, because of the you or other pronouns etc ex: you is used for "tusi" and "tu" ...and to us that might seem bit rude=) (jus have a bad habit of defending the other side lol)
  8. i havent checked ...but if u havent started a new topic on this already ..i would suggest u do so we can all discuss it=)
  9. many factors play role in such cases (environment; nature and nurture(even though i think they both the same) which includes parents/family/school/sangat...etc) its sad that our govt doesnt have money for schools and teachers but u do see people who want to make a difference working night and day passionately..'one child at a time'=) the fact is many people are trying to figure out what should be done so each child can grow up properly...unfortunately most of the theories tried in schools or outside of school dont work. few have come to the conclusion that there isnt a single theory developed that can help turn this world into "satjug" (obviously?) maybe u think otherwise? Thanks Singhavelli for sharing described by Frantz Fanon. i never came across it before.
  10. very good topic=) thought like that occurs to me too and concerns me too veeray ji at gurdwaras or even in conversations amongst my friends, earlier, i used to hear the one-liners and at that time (as i didnt know any better{still dont}, thus didnt ask questions. i didnt even know what was gurbani and what was Rehitnamas... thought all that was said =sikhi and the truth :umm: ) i believed what was said. the concepts which were discussed stayed with me and i thought that was Sikhi and what Guru sahib is saying /telling me to do. oh the naiveness and innocence...the manipulation...sometimes out of ignorance on the speakers part and sometimes just done on purpose it bothers me and scares me that sometimes a wrong message is conveyed. the thought....possibility of ruining someones life by directing them into a wrong direction, doesnt it ever cross the mind of those who use tuks, and rahitnemas to just back up their belief? i guess thats why we just gotta become more aware and teach ourselves and friends/family around to take the responsibility to become more vigilant. it should make us take the responsibility to learn the truth on our own by reading, listening, and questioning rather than believing what someone said or how they interpret gurbani/sikhi/life:) looking fws to reading ur examples =) bhul chuk muaff karni
  11. awesome reads... but i'll ask my questions as its not really clear to me here( apne or whoevr can answer thm) so the person, who came to learn gurbani, recited bani when he didnt know any? do we know what it means to be illiterate? and when it comes to learning gurbani...def it is by kirpa..one develops this longing to sit with guru maharaj to listen to his pavitar bachar to improve ones life. but there is a need to learn gurmukhi nd know how to pronounce akhaars(words) properly in order to know/understand what guru sahib is saying dont we? guru sahib himself opened school to teach gurmukhi. if we think about it why would guru sahib do that? why would guru sahib even have Manjiya or Bhanguuray (crib like swings) to spread the word/shabd?...and if we were to know what gurbani is saying by ourselves..might take a long time dont u think? if we have the resources then why not use them to live better life and understand gurbani? maybe thats why we need kathakars or vichaar hana(which guru sahib continues to tell to do in HIS bani) ? (to the original poster)is ur post about santhiya..and how we dont really need it? here i agree with u that fighting over meanings is waste of time... but that doesnt mean one shouldnt read translations does it? its not the translations but the human mind (ego) which makes us fight and makes us think "what i know is correct".. maybe at times when people like me who fight over translations, forget that our knowledge is very limited nd need to think about what maharaj is instructing us on individual level. about u saying bhai Randir singh ji nevr read any books or translations. how can u be soo sure of that? and please lets not forget, our generation doesnt know punjabi properly , thus we cant compare ourselves to bhai Randir Singh ji. they(bhai sahib and alike) learned things,if like u are saying not by books,... they learned from the society & the environment...their mother tongue was punjabi... and knew the words, had a very good vocabulary (developed background knowledge) which we dont, thus people like me need vichaar, translations/books and people who can help/teach me twist my tongue properly to say the words correctly. just my 1 cent bhul chuk muaf karni and please forgive me if i didnt understand what u were saying akal sahai! wjkk wjkf
  12. forgive me in advance...because what i am about to ask might make some of u a lil angry...nd some of u might  (nd chuckle) i heard that this story isnt true? i was shocked too...so now im asking here to clear my doubt. thank u to those who r goin to take this question seriously and give an answer. bhul chuk muaff karni akal sahai!
  13. thanks for cleaning that =)...thzt why i used quotation ~akal~
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6V3oUoffCE...feature=related (not everyone in the police is bad...keep that in mind)
  15. i know what u mean.. after reading or listening to this stuff...its easy to become paranoid lol -- one of the reasons i posted this clip is cuz we should know more about whats going on in the world than just whats happening in punjab or to "sikhs" =)
  16. didnt something like this take place before? at uni level?
  17. so basically it wouldnt be ok to say that guru sahib wanted us to get away from creating boundaries between us...and live freely...love the one and only in all! about pilgrimage... some people in india do "tirath ishaana" as they call it goin to historical gurdwaras. are they using the right word? there is a lot of confusion created by us...when we dont use the appropriate words to describe what we are doing. i m sure the above post by khalsa4evr has helped u a lot =) akal sahai!
