  1. oh yeah, bhenji! I agree with you..I think they are jealous... And everyone knows...Bay area/cali sangat ROCK! They all want everyone to move outta there to where they are! Sorry sangatoo, but it will take more than an eartquake to get the bay area sangat to move! he he he
  2. What they panj piyarai's words cannot be ritual unless what they say is expressly forbidden in Sikhi. Bhul Chuk Maaf!
  3. Great go for it! B) Just make sure you guys give me a job..I like flying...
  4. Great! Ruin it for those peole that want to more there
  5. Congratulations! Dhan Guru, Dhan guru ki sikhi, dhan guru kay sikh!
  6. Not sure what the law is in canada but, before 9/11 even the British Aviation Authorities allowed a 3 inch shri sahib. Legislation permitted it, but many news law have come out restricting weapons. At the end of the day, the issue is not just the country you leave from but also the country that you are flying to. We have guru maharaj ji at home, so before I fly anywhere, I usually do ardaas and take of my shri sahib at home and pack it in my main luggage with respect. I don't eat anything until I have done ardaas and I have my Shri Sahib back. It may be wrong to take it off willingly but I have done this because the authorities will take your shri sahib and some say you will get it on the other end, but this is not guaranteed...guru sahib only knows if their hands are clean or whether the will treat guru ji's shaster with respect. I prefer to know that my shaster is safe... Last year, when I was flying out of LA, I had a small 2 inch shri sahib on me (just for the flight). The authorities told me I had to check it in. All my luggage had already been taken. I did ardaas and put the shri sahib in one of my personal bags and this had to be escorted onto the plane. With guru ji's grace I managed to get it back on the otherside! Religion has deteriorated over the years and religious values are not appreciated..plus, with 9/11 religion has been given a bad name and Sikhism is one of the religions that is obvious from appearance. I guess, a lot of people regard this as a threat and see all religious people as potential terrorists. Its that old argument, 'one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist'. The best way to fly with your shri sahib on is to be flying the plane your self! bhul chuk maaf! The best
  7. vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ke fateh! Good on ya singh! Dumalay rock!
  8. Second pic was But first pic is kinda cool...
  9. Hey, It's nice to know we have some really understanding singh's out there...J Singh, you post was really cool! I have been brought up in an Amritdhaari household and I was told to wear panties & a Kashera...the kashera never leaves the body - even when menstruating. And when we wear panties, the purpose is to hold the sanitray towel in place...it's not luxury, revealing or seductive Victoria's Secret/La senza lingerie! But I can appreciate Naam Jaachak's point..my sisters may understand..u don't feel normal when you are on a period and even I used to not like doing maharaj's sukhasun because I felt unclean. For Jassika..no offence, but wearing kakkaars is NO WAY a ritual. The one leg in and one leg out is to ensure that your kakkaar does not leave your body! This is also the case when you are on a period! They are fundamental. It's not just about mental thought process's..otherwise we can all cut our hair and say we don't need guru sahib's crown because sikhi is in our hearts and mentality! Somehow I don't think so! guru sahib gave us the kakkaar's as extensions of our bodies..and they are here to stay. As the Khalsa we are Guru sahib's roop.. 'khalsa meroo roop hai kaas' so lets keep it like that! bhulla chuka maaf
  10. Good one! Why deliberate on what gurbani hasn't mentioned. Guru bani is Proactive. It tells us what we should do. i.e sewa, simran, etc If gurubani was to tell us all the things that we shouldn't do than the list we be endless and we would sit here debating on what we should do.. Khalsa4eva you said 'I'm starting to wonder. If in a heterosexual union (guy-girl), kaam must play a major role too (cause on a basic level, attraction between man and woman thinking animalistically, is based on s.e.x. So... why do we condone one but reject the other?' I just want to clarify, Kaam is the first of the 5 sins..it is not condoned in hetrosexuals realtionships either. Guru sahib has told us to consider everyone a brother/sister,son/daughter, mother/father depending on the age of the person. What is condoned is love..and there is a difference between love and lust. Love is about giving and considers the other person. Lust is about pleasing one's own desire...that is why it is not condoned in either hetrosexual/homosexual relationships in sikhi. > Bhul Chuk Maaf!
  11. Trust me the sangat has tried to stop this..but it doesn't work. The people that sell this stuff do not think they are doing anything wrong..that's where the problem lies!
  12. I hate to say it..but it is true. India is corrupted...A lot of people even join Nihangs because they get food, shelter, and a horse! India is corrupt and they are trying to brainwash other nations with their stupid Bollywood films that portray Sikhs as idiots...This situation isn't helped by the millions of males that wear turbans, trim their beards and drink alcohol..they are just acting as fuel for the fire. But no one can bring down Sahib Guru Gobind Singh Jis Khalsa !!! They will always try but not suceed!
  13. Only a khalsa can fight 125, 000! and yes, we have the power to do many things! Perhaps we should see this kind of properganda as a test, because only a true Khalsa will uphold the truth, even when all those around him/her renounce it...
  14. This is all properganda to belittle sikhi... Sahid Baba Deep Singh Ji didn't fight with his head in his hand, Shahib Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj did not really cut the heads of the panj piyarai, THIS IS ALL BS. You are right Singh when you say over time this will be ridiculed even more...and it will be said that Sahid Baba Deep Singh Ji only had a scrape to his neck! Some people have become soo scientific they think some events in Sikh history are scientifically impossible..their simple minds cannot comprehend such great events! I guess the only way we can try to combat this is by making sure we educate ourselves and generations to come about our wonderful history so the truth about what happened is known. I hope you are right and this was a genuine mistake, but somehow I do not think so... Bhull chuk maaf! vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ke fateh!!
  15. My dad thought me some of this stuff...but I couldn't remember it all! Now I can learn it! woohoo!
  16. Vahgeuru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ke fateh! Just be careful brothers and sisters..I have seen a lot of sikh girls and guys get sucked in by this sort of stuff. E.g. muslims boys wearing 'karai' and changing their names by deed poll to sikh names just to convert a sikh girl...all because their religion says a conversion will lead to a place in heaven. I know its hard :T: because it seems we are turning our backs on someone that needs help...but even if we were to help someone in this situation we are limited to what we can do..we can only give support and advice. We can't take the law into our own hands, especially for someone that you do not fully know. Bhull chuk maaf, har maidan fateh parvan karoo.. Vahgeuru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ke fateh!
  17. Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji ke fateh! As my Bro JSingh has just pointed out, these are bhanj-singhs...it's a shame to say this but the nihangs have been corrupted as lot of men join the Dal's because the get food, water, shelter..not for the true purpose. I believe it was a tradition to challenge other warriors but this was not a tradition that started with the Khalsa. This was a tradition that started from the Hindu Warrior caste because the were very egoistic. Therefore, AK-47, you are right most challenges will be a display of ego unless you are challenging someone who has offended sikhi or your guru. If that is the case, then your challenge is righteous. If you wish to improve you skills in gatka/shaster vidiya, then you do not necessarily need to challenge others because you can spar with other students, your master, etc. With regards to your question about being a warrior and being afraid of a little clash...then all I will say is that, I was taught, 'I wise warrior knows when to walk away from a situation and when to pick up arms'. It's useless fighting because someone has called you a chicken, but if someone has said something about sikhi, they need to be put straight. Anyone can learn the art of fighting and say they are a warrior. But, this does not make them a khalsa warrior. A khalsa warrior is a saint first and a soldier after...that way, this warrior will always fight on the side of good! It would be a shame to turn down a challenge and most warriors will not do this because they can learn from their opponet or realise their own skill. The difficulty with adopting a warrior philo sophy is knowing how to balance humility and warrior traditions. As a sikh you should stay humble and not let your ego get the better of you...but if you never fight someone or turn down every challenge how do you improve? I guess, only guru ji can guide you if you end up in this situation. Anyway, I hope this helps.... Bhula chuka maaf.... vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ke fateh!
