Nanak Satguru tina maliya jina turay bhayia sanjoog Bull Chuk Maaf!
  2. no good I have seen all this myself, bhenji so I know what you are talking about. I wish we knew the answers. But all I can say is we need to focus on educating ourselves, our peers and the next generation. What we need are quality gursikhs, not a large quantity of panjabi's calling themselves 'sikhs' Bhull Chuk Maaf
  3. P Singh, let me guess.. You're going to Kulwant Singh's wedding this weekend he he he
  4. The point is that mehdi and stuff are not sikhi. That is indian culture. It does not go with the roop of a singhni or the roop of a khalsa. You cannot have both because there is a clear conflict between the two. For Balwinder Singh, Kaur_khalsatani_lioness, and Jash, sure you i'll invite you guys..but it's in the hands of guru maharaj so I can't say when it'll be Bhul Chuk Maaf!
  5. Manpreet Singh's but there are and have been better kirtani's hope no one minds that comment Bhul Chuk Maaf!
  6. ONLY "some" . Well, I am only going to invite the people I know Only "GUPAT" people? ha ha ha I don't even want to get married so stop picking on me! But if I do, the sangata are more then welcome and those poeple that know me know that the 'reception' will be jam packed with kirtan, gatka and martial arts! And maybe even a little aerobatics display Actually, that's a damn good idea..I think I may just have to get married so I can have this aerobatics display.. lol
  7. ONLY "some" . Well, I am only going to invite the people I know
  8. I have also decided what I am wearing...lol! It's definately going to be a chola and a damala. I won't go into too much detail such as the shasters I will have or colours incase someone copies me The only problem is that I don't want to get married! :T: but, if I change my mind some of the admin people and members will definately be invited. You guys know who you are
  9. I think sikhism should be defined as the most righteous religion... Although I do agree with SOGGSJ that sikhism is also logical Bhul Chuk Maaf!
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Bhaugauti does actually refer to a kirpan, because the kirpan it is the creator. The importance of the why we should 'dhiayee' on the bhaugauti is because the of the power that comes from the sword. The sword has the power to create and destroy uphold righteaousness etc. Bhul Chuk Maaf! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  11. The bold part comes first That's right and all other means have not been exhausted. The muslims are using violence as the first answer and this has consequences for the innocent people, not the perpetrators of this law. There are legal ways to fight the 'no headgear' issue which no one seems to be considering :T: This matter needs to be addressed under the European Convention of Humans Rights which expressly allows freedom of Religion. Should the matter need to be r esolved by the European Court of Human Rights then ALL European communities that have signed up to the convention will be bound by this decision...
  12. You are more than welcome. I am sure you mum is very very proud of you and so is guru sahib. 'Charan Saran guru eakk peanda jae chull, satguru koat penda agaay hoi leth hai' As gurubani says. Guru sahib will take countless steps towards you as you take one step towards him. I'm sure guru sahib is taking countless steps towards you as you take each and every step towards him. Please feel to message me should you need any other help or have any other queries...or you can always ask a questions on the forum. The sangata will be more than happy to assist as am I Bhul chuk maaf!
  13. Mkhalsa - which gurdwara this is/whether you have visited it or not is irrelevant! The fact is that this has happened to one of guru sahib's ghar's..and that's not right These people need to stop seeing beyond 'head gear' and realise we are sikhs. And our turbans are the crowns of the Khalsa. And ours is the only religon that has provided and enforced equality and humanitarism! Before all this political talk into equality and human rights came into play... Bhull Chuk Maaf!
  14. Yep ghost, spirits etc all exist! One even visited Bhai Rama Singh Ji and many other gursikhs have 'sightings'
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Cosmictej my heart really goes out to you.. Let me tell you a true story...(i'll cut it short abit..) There was a young amritdhaari couple in their 20s who had a kid. As most most amritdhaari couples will do, this couple took their kid to be blessed with guru sahibs amrit. After taking amrit this couples newborn died. This happened to several of their children after they had taken amrit. The couple we so saddened they decided not to give amrit to their sixth (or perhaps it was seventh, i can't recall) child. Nevertheless, this child grew up and embraced sikhi. Upon taking amrit he also died. The couple were so hurt over this they wanted to leave sikhi...somehow they ended up meeting a gursikh/sant and they asked this gursikh this question. He told them: You should thank guru ji. He considered you such gursikhs that he sent you children that had already been reserved a place at his charan, in sachkand. The only thing missing was that they had not had the chance to become amritdhaari in their last jeevan. The reason they were born to this couple is so they could become amritdhaari and join their father.... What I am trying to say is that life and death are the only two truths of life. As Pheena Bhaji has said we all have to go...It's all part of guru sahib's hukam. But don't think you are without a mother. 'Gurudev Mata, Gurudev pitaa' 'Tu mera mataa tu mera pittaa, tu mera bhundup tu hai mera brata' Guru sahib is our mother, father, friend and brother! Please try to do simran and read baani and he will help you f urther...and help you become a wonderful Khalsa! Bhull Chuk Maaf!
  16. Thats right! Experience has told me that Studying smartly is the key! But don't forget your faith in guru maharaj ji!
  17. Thanks guys (balwinder Kaur and JSingh) I will pass on your comments. She's a great singhni! I just wanted to emphasise what some people have to go through. I totally agree there is nothing better than becoming guru sahibs daughter and wearing the crown of the Khalsa but some people are soo narrow minded and engrossed in Kulyugh they don't share the same opinion! (especially if the are Panjabi) May guru sahib bless them also.. bhull Chuk Maaf!
  18. Hey One of my bhaji's the first Canadian Singh Copper (or constable as he makes us say) he's based in Calgary! MSG me and I can get you his details should you wish to speak to him... and for the record he is a family man too! And bhenji..life is a challenge so being able to work unsociable hours, having a family and maintaining sikhi is all part of the challenge. Trust me, I am talking from experience although I can' t comment on the marriage and kids aspect... Just make sure you marry a supporting and understanding singh that will help and assist you in your sikhi, gristi jeevan and family B) Bhull Chuk Maaf!
  19. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Female infanticide is not the sole reason for there being less girls in sikhi.. Men are expected to wear pughs and be brought up into sikhi but very few people expect this of their daughters (indian culture, I guess) The result is that a lot of girls are brought up traditioinally not religiously so when they think of what is to be a khalsa...they do not think that is something they can do. A lot of girls I know that used to go to sikh camps were like, I don't think I can wear a dastar or a kachera and stuff like that....I can't give up my earings and stop waxing my legs...It's not something they are used to or have been brought up with so they find it difficult to change their practices. And those girls that have waxed and stuff find it really scary because they think their eyebrows are going to grow to be BIG caterpillers because they cannot pluck them! Plus some gorls do not get much encouragement from their parents because the parents think if their girls starts becoming amritdhari and wears a dastar she will never get married! (especially those parents that want to marry their kids into caste) One of my friends wanted to wear a dastar. Her father told her, if you put that thing on your head, I am going to start drinking. This bhenji did it anyway, and true to his word her dad has started drinking alcohol. And he curses her everyday and tells her no one will marry her because she wears a dastar. (not that this stops her.. Bhull chuk Maaf!
  20. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Jungee! I suggest you read the same, and instead of interpreting amrit look at what gurbani has said about rehat. Hence, my suggestiong you read Bhai Sahib's autobiography..it will answer all your questions on what should be done backing it up with gurbani..and if you can read Panjabi, read the panjabi version. And no offence, but sikhi cannot be modernised...it's not a concept that can be adapted to suit changes social times...Sikhi is a way of life...it's the pathway to our Guru's charan... Bhull Chuk Maaf! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  21. It's a shame...and the sad thing is that some youth even think its a great thing to be able to drink and they have full dharay and they sit with bottles of beer. Whats worse is that they have even started sikh girls doing it! These girls are so eager to please they join in! @ Sad what things are coming to! Koi nah! Guru sahib was after quality not quantity Not that I come into the quality end of things either
  22. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ!! Unfortunately, at school, the adults think that you are not capable of being responsible with 'a weapon' as they see it! They seem to think we are all raving lunatics and will stab everyone! Its hard to explain to Education Authorities the rules under which a kirpan can be used. They never understand..they just think it can all be misused! sorry for the negativity..its just that it hasn't worked for us They only way we have been able to wear a kirpan is by hiding it.. bhul chuk maaf!
  24. More and more challeges to be faced by guru sahib's children.. You know the France ban, well, that could have been nipped in the bud 2 years ago.. A singh went to renew his passport and was told to take of his distaar for the picture. Obviously the Singh said no and explained why. He tried to fight the case legally because not being allowed to wear a turban is a direct violation of Article 7 or 8 (I forget) of the European Convention of Human Rights which expressly allows Freedom of Religion. The Singh didn't have the finances to fight the case all the way to the European Court of Human Rights...he appealed to all gurdwaray etc. Forget giving him a donation, his letters were not even acknowledged, except by 1 singh in India, who was touched by his predicament but could not afford a financial donation. This singh wrote back and said all he could do was ardaas (which is better than the other reponses!) Maybe, if the European/English community had assisted to fight then Singh's & Singhnia in France would not be faced with this problem! After all this 'no headgear thing' will probably just spread across Europe.. Bhul Chuk Maaf!
