GURDWARA EXPOSED!

“Guru Arjan Dev Ji Shaheedi” Sports & Cultural Tournament organised by:

Sri Guru Singh Sabha London East

For several years Sangat has been trying to stop this tournament where the following happens:

1) Excessive Alcohol & Drug Abuse

2) Rowdy and Violent Behaviour

3) Langar from Gurdwara is distributed alongside meat and alcohol

4) Misuse of Gurdwara Funds

Is this what Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji & Sikh Shaheeds lived and died for?

This Gurdwara committee are the Massands of today. They refuse to address the concerns of the Sangat. They are misusing the offerings from Sangat. They partake in the alcohol & drug abuse on the day of the tournament. They profit from the tournament.

This is the future of our community at stake. Do we want people who abuse their roles as community leaders?

This abuse of power has to stop and as Sadh Sangat this is your chance to make a difference in your local area. The committee is responsible to YOU all of the local Sadh Sangat. The tournament highlights the extent to which this committee is not capable of promoting Sikhism within the local area.

Things will not change unless we try to do something about it. If you have love for Guruji and call yourself a Sikh then it’s your problem.

everyone should ring and tell the committee what they think.

some ideas:

explain to them that meat and alcohol are prohibited for all sikhs.

ask them would they let someone under the influence of alcohol enter their Gurdwara?? if they wouldn't then how can they provide langar for people who are drunk.

why does the Gurdwara need to be involved in organising this event?

how much sangat money is ploughed into the event?

who's money is used for langar?

Apparently the local residents are not happy with tournament being held in thier park. due to the drunken behaviour.

so not only is it beadbi, its also giving sikhi a bad reputation/name.

Anyway this is obviously the 5th attempt at this topic. Lets keep it the last, and before im accused of hijacking this one too.

:doh: For over 20 years Gurdwara Singh Sabha London East has been organising Kabadi tournaments in the name of Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Shaheedee. At these events people from all over the world gather, the minority are there to play Kabadi, however the majority including some of the Gurdwara's own committee members are there to drink alcohol, eat kebabs and to be entertained. The Gurdwara Sahib's sewadars even make Guru Ka Langer and serve it at these events.

Did our great Guru's make these sacrifices for this? Please support the youth, phone the committee members (numbers are below) and ask them these 4 questions:

1. Why does the Gurdwara committee invest so much of it's time and money to support such events?

2. Why does the Gurdwara committee use such disgraceful events to remember Guru Arjan Dev Ji's great sacrifice? (Each year there is so much noise and anti-social behaviour at these events that they have to keep changing the venue).

3. What is the Gurdwara's committee doing to support those Sikh men who are alcoholics?

4. What is the Gurdwara's committee doing to support those women and children who are beaten and abused by alcoholic men?

This movement can only be successful if YOU make these phone calls!

When the youth spoke to this Committee directly their response was that they will hold an emergency meeting and then feedback, 4 weeks later they don’t want to respond...
