Amritdhari's And Caste

I just wanted to ask the sangat's own experience in the real world:

I have found that a lot of sikhs who are amrithdhari still hold a lot of regard for the caste system, eg be it jat, ramgarhia etc...

Especially when it comes to marriage proposals. People say such and such is a really good family, educated, good morals, amritdhari etc .... and then go on to ask the cast of the other party and then say that they are only strictly looking for a match of the same cast.

In living our lives in a practical sense (as our Gurus have taught us to live our lives in the Sikh way) I feel that we are way off. Even the new generation of sikhs seems to put a lot more importance on cast and much less on Sikhi!!

true!!! well i dunno if im allopwed 2 marry a white singhni.. hm lol well wenever i talk 2 my parents abt marryi out of caste all they say is "what about ur children? they will get nowhere 2 marry" since they dnot jatt nor wotever caste ur wife/hubby will be. n dat kinda angers me coz tis all a vicious circle!. only a few cant do it. either all can do it or none. hope u lot understand wot im tryna say.
