Miri-piri

Sat Sri Akal:

Miri - worldly power, such as political and military.

Piri - spiritual power, that of meditating on the Almighty and being firm in one's faith.

Miri-Piri is the concept behind the Sant-Siphai, the saint soldier, the ideal Sikh. Though one must always remember that the saint power is to remain the guiding force behind the worldly political and military power. A Sikh is to maintain himself/herself in the world and serve humanity while being in continuous meditation of the Almighty at all times. Wherever there is injustice and oppression, the saintly Sikh will recognize such an atrocity and raise arms against such injustice (arms can also be protests, rallies, petitions and other means of opposition).
