It is good to see you taking such interest. We need more individuals like your good self.

If everyone sent a letter to the SGPC Jathedar and also started phoning the discussion programs on Panjab Radio, Akash Radio etc, we would get a good reaction. I remember Panjab Radio discussing the Darshani Deori gate issue with some SGPC figure, he totally denied the story was true and the replacement idea was soon dropped.

Also phone the like of Badal and let his office know that the Guru Ka Bhag must remain.

If you are in the UK use http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/index.php

to get the cheapest call rates to India (I found one that cost a penny a minute last week but it has now gone up) and give a few people a call. The cheapest is about 6p a minute so 2 minutes will only cost you 12pence or so.

Parkash Singh Badal 00 91 172-2746383

Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa 00 91 98153-01101 (mobile) or 00 91 172-2744883

Manjeet Singh Calcutta

0091 98140-50679 (mobile) or 00 91 183-2229635 ,0091 183 2553951

Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar 00 91 98146-01855 (mobile) or 00 91 175-239252

Please keep your calls clean and do not use abusive language. You are representing the Khalsa Panth when you get in touch with these people. Good language costs nothing but can gain you a lot.

We are still waiting for a response from the SGPC. I am still hoping that they will back out of the proposal quietly and save face by doing so.

The letters are a really powerful first step. Hopefully that will be enough. If we dont get a favourable response from that, then we should move to petitioning. But remeber that the petition will only be influential if we can get many thousands of signatures [the women's seva issue at the Harimandir petiiton only realised about 2500 signatures] , if it is underpowered then the SGPC can just as easily state that this issue isnt a major one. Lets proceed with some caution.

Can anyone get me the mailing address for Darshan Dhaliwal? He runs a Milwaukee based company called Bulk Petroleum Corp.

Maybe our US brothers could meet him and tell him to build the Museum elsewhere.

Can we involve United Sikhs, Sikh Coalition, American Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee etc ?

Hopefully Amandeep Singh's letter to Dhaliwal will convince him to relocate the project elsewhere.

I saw the following story in Tribune India today. Good to see SS Mann taking up the issue (albeit with his political undertone) although I was surprised to see that most of his letter was a word for word copy of what Gurmeet Rai had written.

Mann writes to SGPC chief

Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, February 23

Mr Simranjit Singh Mann, president of the Akali Dal (Amritsar), has opposed any fresh construction in the Harmander Sahib complex and has suggested that the SGPC acquire another 100 acres for the additional infrastructure needs, including administrative blocks, staff quarters, parking lot, lodging facility for pilgrims and museums and educational institutions.

In a letter to the SGPC president, Mr Avtar Singh Makkar, Mr Mann has maintained that Shri Darbar Sahib complex has been saturated with much construction activity in the recent past and has gone far beyond the optimum threshold and capacity to accommodate more building activity. The proposed museum as well as the proposed administrative block adjacent to Guru Hargobind Niwas should not be built.

Opposing the handing over of the langar sewa to individuals, Mr Mann has observed that the sewa of any langar should not be given to any individual.

Providing separate meals other than in the langar to VIP members and staff of the SGPC must also be stopped. The langar should be served only in the langar hall and not in Samundri Hall to the members of the SGPC.

Mr Mann has also taken exception to the sending of cooked langar from Damdama Sahib for the conference organised by the SAD in Bathinda

Making allegations of discrimination, Mr Mann said he requested Mr Makkar for arranging “shamiana” and mats for the function at Fatehgarh Sahib on February 12 to observe the birth anniversary of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala and he arrogantly refused to do so saying the SGPC did no such thing. But he did everything at the behest of Mr Parkash Singh Badal.

Mr Mann questioned the claim of the SGPC that 7,000 tents were supplied to the Sikhs in Uttaranchal Pradesh and maintained that during their visit to Uttaranchal they found that only 34 Sikh families lost their property and they were provided shelter under the used fertiliser sacks stitched together and there were no proper tents.

Mr Mann urged the SGPC chief to show “independence, transparency and accountability” in all his actions.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
