Charity Car Wash

The Sikh Temple, Gurdwara Sahib, Chapeltown, Leeds

The Charity Car Wash event that took place on Sunday the 19th Of March was a great success. In total £320 was raised by charitable donations including money raised from washing cars. The Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh Temple) in Leeds donated £101 together with a further £219 raised from the hard work of washing nearly 40 cars with some sangat donating more than the £2.50 price originally set per car.

The queue had already started to grow when the car wash started at approximately 10.30 am and shortly afterwards students from as far as Manchester made the journey to Leeds to take part. The car wash continued non stop until 3pm with local youth and students from Leeds and Manchester all washing cars franticly.

The funds raised from the charity car wash will go equally to the following locations 50/50 each (£160 / £160).

The Gurseva Children’s Project was established by the Sikh Human Rights Group in the northern Indian state, of Punjab in 2003, in order to provide children in need with accommodation, education, food and clothing. For further details please go to www.gurseva.org.

Many thanks to all involved with making this event a success and to all those who supported with efforts made in preparation and on the day. Also, we cannot thank Maharaj Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji enough for blessing us with the effort and love to accomplish such seva.

Fantastic stuff. Looks like you guys had a good day too as well as raising hundreds of pounds. Also, very good choices for charities. May Maharaj keep blessing you guys with more seva like this.
