How do you know when you are ready?

basically when you love your guru and are able to profess your love..

If you are still unsure do an aardas and see what guru ji says to you..

As for minmum number of banis..

The Panj Pyare will tell you exactly how many etc...but basic is..

5 in the morning

japji sahib, jaap sahib, tav parsad Sawiye, Benti chaupee, Ananad Sahib (full)

now remember amirt is the begining of your life..its the start of a new relation with the guru..as his wife..he is our khasam...so rememeber amrit is just the begnining not the end..we are all bound to make mistakes..just be true to your self..amrit is quite simple..

a lot of trouble makers are there out there..they will come and bug you..where did u take amirt..which gurudawara which maryarda..pls dont bother getting into any arguement with them..we are here to spread the love of guru nanak..to build bridges ..not build walls...just say you took amrit from the guru that was prepared by the panjpyaree..

if you are unable to do all your banis..start off with what ever you can and then build on it..like i said amrit is the begining not the end..however, it is best you speak to the panj pyaree adnd follow their hukam

u can never be ready for amrit. u take it when u can give ur head to ur Guru. if you want to give your head, then take amrit. remember you go to the amrit sanchar to give something, not to get something.
