The made a mistake. Get him to admit it and it is safe! Educate him so he doesn't do it again. leave the guy alone. Everyone makes mistakes. In punjab and in pind, everyone is bound to get jutt influence. Not to forget punjabi movies. Full of juttvaad! They doing soemthing good, let them. However, it looks like that these youth need a lot of training. No big deal, at least these guys don't claim to be sect of hindus. At least they understand that Sikhs are being treated bad. Instead of bashing the mistake, it is best to correct it. KhalsaForce, get him the message through your cousin that we should not be associating with caste. It is made by brahmans.

bhai meria if it was that easy we would've gotten khalistan. To get ekta in sikhi is one of the hardest thing to do. Thats why the khalistani movement slowed down after 1996. We didn't have ekta. So if we teach them and its there decision we cant do alot about it.

Whats this movie about?

I saw the videos, and researched the movie...

Those videos are really inspiring.

We have ALOT of sleeping giants in India.

Everyone thinks we already lost over there, we have alot of people who are still active.

Instead of complaining about the faults in some of the speakers, we need to try to awaken them all together.

Some of those guys are extraordinary speakers, we need to keep them in the Sikh Kaum and awaken the remaining sleeping spirits.

I'm very pleased after watching those videos :@

phir ohi gal singha, U think the singhs who were protesting will come to sikhsangat.com to know that sikhs should not believe in caste system, very few come online especially the ones who are in sikh federation. If you want to tell them this then start from villages, most sikhs in villages believe in caste system and the elderly are the ones who teach their kids to believe in caste system. So if a little singh like me tries to explain a 50 year old bhai that sikhs dont believe in caste system do u think he will listen to me. Its a big issue to handle. Thats why we need to achieve ekta first, then the jatt issue will be solved.

What is it got to do with the Singhs protesting coming on this forum or not. If the Singh protesting, dont know that Sikhism doesnt believe in caste, then he dont know his left tutta from his right.

Hey all concerned about the Sikh Student and the caste system....

Listen up to a situation I had once encountered.

Most "Sikhs" in India, specifically the ones who claimed to be Jatt are overly proud about their caste, and they will not listen to people who try to tell them that Sikhs dont believe in a caste system.

Second, in the last 5 years, the Jatt kids have began to cut their hair the most, and when people make fun of the "12 o clock Sardarji" joke....Jatts would respond and say "Jatts are NOT Sardars"

I've seen this happen, where they take more pride in being Jatt than a Sardar.

A friend of mine, who had travelled to India, and was active in the Sikh Students communities there was approached by an elder activist, and asked if he would attempt to change the ways Jatts view Sardars. That if he would claim to be "Jatt" and a "Sardar" that it would slowly help the masses learn more about Sikhi. My friend has no connection to any caste, and he keeps the last name Singh. So, he gave a speech in a rural community primarily based off farmers and Jatts. He gave a speech to the children who all had their hair cut, and told them he was a Putt Jattan De, living in America, and he slowly squeezed in the beauty of Sikhism. He concluded his speech stating how his views had changed, and now he see's no distinction between Khalsay, and views all Khalsa as his brothers.

The poem that the student had written from the video, that goes:

"Meh hai Punjab da, Meh hai Punjab da, Jatt Sikh, pehli gal meh hai Sardar haan"

IS to counter-attack the recent saying that "Jatts are not Sardars"

He is claiming to be one of them, so they don't view him as different, but as "cool"

The student is obviously aware that many Jatts feel they have to distinguish themselves even from the Sikhs, and he trying to bring them back in slowly.

Lecturing people, especially children will most likely not work. One has to show them that is "cool" to be what they are, and be a Sardar. That brings them closer to the end-goal, and I believe that this was the Students main goal.

Perhaps, some of you guys don't know the culture in India or so, but I am well aware that Jatt kids have recently started saying the whole "Jattan de Sardar nahi hai" slogans. I also know some Sikh activists have faked a last name and claimed to be Jatt, in order to try to bring back some of these kids.

It is a slow battle, and it takes time to win.

I am not saying he is right in what he said, but if his motive is right...sometimes these small tricks work in the long run.

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
