Fateh Sangat Ji!

I was wondering what electronic device is the best for recording live keertan divans etc.? PLease share info about the devices you use. What works best. ex. Sony etc.

I use a Sony mini disk recorder with a microphone which i put on the stage (clip onto the gurdwara mic).

The quality is usually clear but the only thing you can listen to the kirtan is on the mini disk player.

Just use a good mp3 recorder... There are tons of them, I don't know which one to tell you to get. Personally I use the iRiver iHP-140, but they don't make it now (though it's better than the new one, which is the 340).

iAudio X5 is awesome, too. Archos AV 500 is good, but more expensive, but it has 100GB and can use a mini-cam (which also is expensive, though....) to record video :|

Those are just some possibilities. Taking into thought the price, capacity, quality, etc, of those three I'd choose the X5.

Oh, and use a good external mike. I use a Sony one.

Have you got a mobile phone? If so, which one have you got? You may be able to use that.

I just use my Nokia 6680, got some MP3 recording software on it and it works perfect.
