I Don't Know

I do know where to turn,

My heart loves none, my heart knowns none

Minutes pass, then hours, then days.

"Where had my thirst dissapeared too?"

"Where has my life gone?"

"Why did everybody leave me?"

There was a knock at my door.

"Who could it be?" I whispered to myself

They knocked again.

I lifted my head from the drenched pillow of anguish

Walked towards the door and opened it

My eyes filled with sorrow, suddenly looked down

The light to much to bear...

"You asked, why everyone left you; I thought i would come and show you my dear child, I never left you" He said softly

Something deep within me angered me and my blood began to boil

"No! You've taken everybody i care about away from me! You just want me to stay with you all the time! But you never show me your face, I've never even seen you until now! Your being selfish!!"

He smiled.

"Everyday, I wake you up, I take you to the shower, I read gurbani with you, I am teaching you constantly! I'm always here! My face does not dissapear from my body, my child. Rather, you choose to forget me. You had thought I left you! Dear listen carefully, My life is you, you are my life. Everything i do is for your benefit. You sat on your bed and asked me where you life has dissapeared too. It hasn't gone anywhere but only to appear before you and I. Who is the silent listener to your yells, your screams, your tears of sorrow? Who wipes away your tears? Who holds you in his arms during times of anguish?

"You do" I said emberassed, with tears in my eyes

He held me for what seemed to be forever. I didnt want him to let go.

"You know i'll always love you, you are my life.

"I know.. " I smiled

"I know you do"
