what does BUMP mean?

when people say BUMB on a topic or a post....im confused..

erm....i think its like making the topic move up the page so that other people can read it. topics that dont get posted in go further back on- like on the second page - so when people say 'BUMP' its like postin in that thread to make it come to the first page...i dont if that made sense....
