Is There An Irc Or Chat System Made For The Forum?

hey,

if the moderators don't mind, i can get a chat system for this forum... i have a friend of mine who uses it on his website... and it will be free... if the moderators and admin agree to it... i can ask my friend to tell me about that so that it can be used here...

If you guys want to create a chat system go ahead, the only thing is since in chats things can get carried away there have to be more admin/moderation options, even more than ones on the board.

Some basic requirements:

- Chat is active only when a moderator/admin is signed on.

- Admins have the ability to put a block on a user so that they unable to chat for a specified period of time

- Admins have the ability to ban/kick users who use profanity or are inappropriate in their speech

- Users are able to report other chat users who maybe chatting inappropriately.

If you can create a well designed app to suit the above moderation roles then we will consider having one.

Security is the primary concern as Harsimran Singh pointed out, and as long as its not running on our server and is on a trusted server.

There is a company which provides a wkd chat system add on to the forum however, i think its quite expensive

If we wanted to have a chat system, i would have put it up ages ago. But i believe it was agreed that chat wont be good. Just search the forum for existing polls on chat etc.

If sangat wants and all the admins/mod agree i can setup a chat on sikhsangat.com.

First of all thanks Mod, that you have actually replied to the topic <3, I thought the mods didnt really care guess it aint the case..

Ok more on a serious note - Well if someone is to pm me or something, I could purchase a Bouncer for the Chat system to always be like a ROBOT Stander in the Channel, and also I would create the channel in Quakenet because that is well used- so Ill create the channel , and if those of you who have said they will create the Website chat applet and customize it please do so- anyway, I think its best if we PM each other than anything.. Ive had liek 2-3 bnc's before im sure someone else has also, I use to have 1 sponsored by a gaming sponsor, mayb I still have that - Ill look it up , So please do PM me, and Sher Ji - go ahead and create the Site applet. We will atleast try it out what kind of immprovements it causes if any, otherwise if it isn't gone as planned , well you have the button to stop it anyway So :lol: No harm

Easy there tigers, i will have a chat with admins and mods and then we will let you know what we plan on doing. It may be that we might setup a chat system on Sikhsangat.com server or we may go with something like IRC etc. Whatever we decide it needs to be planned first before jumping into anything head first.
