Jaipur (PTI): Forty-seven Sikh protestors were detained on Sunday when they blocked traffic and tried to proceed to Daulatpura near here to allegedly disrupt a congregation of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect.

About a hundred people gathered near Raja Park, an area dominated by the Sikh community, blocking traffic and tried to take out a march to Daulatpura where Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had organised a 'satsang', ASP (east) Sanjay Shotriya said.

He said 47 of the protestors were arrested under Section 129 CrPc (dispersal of assembly by use of civil force) as they had gathered without taking permission from the district administration.

The 'satsang' at Daulatpur 'ashram', about 10 km from the city outskirts, was held peacefully in the afternoon and attended by 20,000 Dera supporters, he said.

The arrested Sikh protestors were let off after the congregation ended, Shotriya said adding elaborate security arrangements were made to prvent any trouble from erupting between the Dera and Sikh community supporters.
