I picked up a calendar from Nanak Darbar North London and under Gurpurbs it has

Lohri

Holi

Holla Mohalla

Rakhri

Sharaad Start

Sharaad End

Navratre Start

Navratre End

Dushera

Vart Karva Chout

Why have Holi when you have Holla Mohalla?

I cant believe it. When people complained they have put more out maybe even printed more to.

I can understand this dates being in Bikrami Jantri but not in Nanakshahi calendar. Well holi is celebrated at same time as hola mohalla and bandi chorr devas same as divali etc in bikrami jantri. This is why we needed are own Sikh calendar.

thats awful!!

Why is the committee promoting anti gurmat activities like fasting?

everyone should contact them and let them know that this is wrong so that in the future this does not happen - North London or anywhere..

yes it's got a date on it - a date of an event that is contrary to Sikhi. Advertising such events would imply an intent to celebrate them. Are you saying therefore that Sikhs should observe karva chaut? The message you want to send out to our kids is that women must fast all day so that their husband lives a long life? It's intersting that the orinal post does not mention Xmas, Easter or Eid on the list. SHould this so called tolreance only extend towards our Hindu brothers and sisters?

So guest, you think that it's "taliban" to not advertise anti Gurmat festivals? rolleyes.gif Being tolerant does not mean that you have to loose your identity...
