It's actually written as 'Das' but it's correct pronunciation is "Da-as" which means slave. It's often used in Humility. It's come a lot of times in Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Usually Gurdwara managers in India use this word a lot for themselves calling themselves "Guru Panth Ke Daas".

daas can be used anytime where ur talkign about ur self. for example, instead of using the word "me", or "I", you can just use "daas".
