it is not suitable for paranoid sikhs.

it is ok for other sikhs. Its more of a tradition, so human beings that have rakhri as a tradition celebrate it. But not all human beings have this as a tradition, therefore I would say not all sikhs have it either :)

gur fateh ji !

wat do u mean by paranoid sikhs and other sikhs??

kindly explain :)

can anyone tell me if festival Rakhri is a festival of sikhs or not. Thanks in advance

no, rakhri is not a festival of Sikhs, it was a hindu tradition even before our Guru ji's time.

here's how i see it. when a woman ties rakhri on her brother's wrist, she is asking for his protection. this implies that she is not able to protect herself. it's degrading to women. Guru ji taught that we are the equals of men and do not need their protection.

if a girl feels like she needs her brother's protection, she can go for it, but if she is Khalsa, she should be able to protect herself.

if you like the bonding between sister and brother, why not give a gutka or a kadha, maybe a nice kirpan. give something compatible with sikhi instead. the idea of brother/sister bonding is wonderful, but it's not necessary to degrade women in the process. :)

and before the singhs jump in, yes, i'm a feminist. deal with it. Guru ji gave us a dastaar and kirpan for a reason, and it's not so we can hide behind any man! :gatka-singhni:

:D

totally agree^^^.

we got women like mata sahib kaur who is at the top of the chain when it comes to shastr vidiya. along with mai bhago. they create a perfect example for our singhnia today. most people dont know this but baba ji told me whenever maharaj went into the battlefield, mata sahib kaur used to leave her body and go to the maedan as well. mata sahib kaur fought in a lot of major battles. but only in atma form, not in body form. but atma form is where all the power comes from anyway.

dhan dhan mata sahib kaur ji, sab thaee hoye sahaye
