Doing Nitnem from Gutkha in gurudwara or at home in silence is the best no doubt but reality of life is that we kalyugi often miss our amrit wela and running late for work I am also like you and do my daily nitnem in train on my mobile from PDF format files. I had similar questions like you but with the grace of god, the day I had this doubt in my mind I came across katha from Giani Thakur Singh Ji Patiale wale. To my surprise he said that today’s generation is much more well equipped to use computer and other technology to read and listen gurbani and one should use hand held, laptops etc to do so without any doubt, but again he mentioned that this is second best option than doing path at home.

i do believe our generation has more f an advatage as we can listen to bani all day long on our mp3s and ipods\but the negtive thing is that im lazy to memorize bani
