A one day camp was organised by Singh Sabha Gurdwara Derby to commemorate life and teachings of 10th Master, Guru Gobind Singh JI. Noted speakers were invited from outside to deliver talks regarding life of Guru Gobind Singh ji to their relevant groups. Bhai Joginder Singh ji from Leicester inspired the over 15 group with his inspiring and motivational talk on Guru ji’s life. Bhai Manvir Singh gave a pictorial depiction of Guru ji’s life. Kids in his group which were around 30 found him very knowledgeable and extremely enjoyed his Lecture. Other groups were taken by Dr Daljit Singh Virk, Bhai Kulwinder Singh and the youngest group was kept in control by Bibi Paramjit Kaur and Bibi Surinder kaur, who through lots and lots of colouring, mental and physical activities kept their group engaged for the session of two hours.

To top this up after the talks, all the groups went to the local Museum in the Singh Sabha Gurdwara, this Museum has lots of old relics from the time of Maharja Ranjit singh ( His two cannons), lots of old memorabilia. All the children were very pleased to learn about the history of 18th, 19th century Sikhs. Bhai Gurpal Singh and his colleagues explained about all the relics to the kids.

To keep the little kids busy we had Trampoline and Bouncy castle which was organised by Bibi Navdeep Kaur. We had hard time getting the kids off even after 1 hour of playing.

Martial arts Gatka display was presented by Bhai Baljit Singh ji from Birmingham. After this kids enjoyed the new animated movie “Sundri”.

Finally prizes were given to the kids.

Overall everyone really enjoyed this one day camp, we thank Waheguru for providing us the opportunity to do sewa of the sangat. With Guru ji’s blessings we will carry on organising more camps in Derby.

Watch out for the next one
