Bristol Slavery Seminar: Saturday 27th June

Recommended Posts

Commemorating the achievements of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in establishing the 1st Khalsa Republic 300 years ago & inviting comparisons to the abolition of slavery in the UK, this seminar is a professional event that is not to be missed. As well as providing a thought-provoking platform for Sikh history, the seminar will be a great opportunity to meet and network with others interested in The Punjab and Sikhi. The event is now only 3 weeks away and tickets are selling out fast so visit www.thesikhway.com to find out more information and to book your place.

The Sikh Education Council has been working hard on issues of importance to Sikhs and humanity as a whole along the path of Guru Nanak, since the early 1980's and we fully understand that continuity and development are vital to this discourse. As you will read from our circular and website, this is the first event in a series to celebrate the tri-centenary of the 1st Khalsa Republic, so the seminar will be an excellent stepping stone for the coming years. We look forward to seeing you there.

WILL'S MEMORIAL BUILDING, BRISTOL, BS8 1RJ. SATURDAY 27th JUNE 2009. 11AM. TICKET ONLY - £10. THESIKHWAY.COM

1710 in The Punjab specifically, but generally over the period of 1710-1716. If you come to the seminar you'll hear more extensively which authorities and primary sources assert this view, a period that unfortunately some Sikhs misunderstand - not suggesting you are one! The event is going to be really good, we are fully supporting the event and helping to sell the tickets online so feel secure when you purchase online!

Ganda Singh has written a fantastic account of Banda Singh Bahadur, but for the less scholarly reader, The Legend of Banda Singh Bahadur by Harish Dhillon is an unsurpassable work (as yet!) and can be bought from Naujawani.com. :)

Go on, buy a ticket. You know you want to! :)

The event in Bristol was very successful and well attended. We at Naujawani.com were most happy to help provide some of the services that helped the event to run according to plan. Although it was organised incredibly professionally, there are always things that people can learn from for the future and good things that can be fed back to organisers to be kept and enhanced in the future. Visit thesikhway.com website and let the Sikh Education Council know what you thought if you attended, or to enquire about future events.
