Are we hypocrits?

If not, then why...

Does a 50£ look big to us when we use it for a Sikh cause, but too small when taken to a multiplex?

Do a couple of hours spent in a Smagam seem so long, but short while watching a movie?

Do we get crazy of TV Serials, but cry when Katha of Sikhi takes more longer than the regular time.

Do we find it hard to recite our Nitnem, but we keep on reading news and gossips about celebrities as a daily part of our lives?

Do we find it so hard to send such messages, but we don't mind forwarding jokes.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਇਓ ਅੰਤਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਹੁਤਾ ਆਇ ॥

guramukh chith n laaeiou anth dhukh pahuthaa aae ||

Those who do not focus their consciousness on the Lord,

as Gurmukh, suffer pain and grief in the end.

ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਅੰਧਿਆਂ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥

andharahu baaharahu andhhiaaan sudhh n kaaee paae ||

They are blind, inwardly and outwardly, and they do not understand anything.

ਪੰਡਿਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਬਰਕਤੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਖਾਇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥

panddith thin kee barakathee sabh jagath khaae jo rathae har naae ||

O Pandit, O religious scholar, the whole world is fed for the sake of

those who are attuned to the Lord's Name.

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

jin gur kai sabadh salaahiaa har sio rehae samaae ||

Those who praise the Word of the Guru's Shabad, remain blended with the Lord.

ਪੰਡਿਤ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

panddith dhoojai bhaae barakath n hovee naa dhhan palai paae ||

O Pandit, O religious scholar, no one is satisfied, and no one

finds true wealth through the love of duality.

ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥

parr thhakae santhokh n aaeiou anadhin jalath vihaae ||

They have grown weary of reading scriptures, but still,

they do not find contentment, and they pass their lives burning, night and day.

ਕੂਕ ਪੂਕਾਰ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾ ਸੰਸਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

kook pookaar n chukee naa sansaa vichahu jaae ||

Their cries and complaints never end, and doubt does not depart from within them.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥

naanak naam vihooniaa muhi kaalai outh jaae ||2||

O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord,

they rise up and depart with blackened faces. ||2||

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਜਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥

poorab likhiaa kamaavanaa j karathai aap likhiaas ||

He acts according to pre-ordained destiny, written by the Creator Himself.

ਮੋਹ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥

moh thagoulee paaeean visariaa gunathaas ||

Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord,

the treasure of virtue.

ਮਤੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਇਆਸੁ ॥

math jaanahu jag jeevadhaa dhoojai bhaae mueiaas ||

Don't think that he is alive in the world - he is dead, through the love of duality.

ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਬਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲਨੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

jinee guramukh naam n chaethiou sae behan n milanee paas ||

Those who do not meditate on the Lord, as Gurmukh, are not permitted to sit near the Lord.

ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਘਣਾ ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਨ ਸਾਥਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਸਿ ॥

dhukh laagaa bahu ath ghanaa puth kalath n saathh koee jaas ||

They suffer the most horrible pain and suffering, and neither their

sons nor their wives go along with them.

ਲੋਕਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਸ ॥

lokaa vich muhu kaalaa hoaa andhar oubhae saas ||

Their faces are blackened among men, and they sigh in deep regret.

ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਕੋ ਨ ਵਿਸਹੀ ਚੁਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਵੇਸਾਸੁ ॥

manamukhaa no ko n visehee chuk gaeiaa vaesaas ||

No one places any reliance in the self-willed manmukhs; trust in them is lost.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥

naanak guramukhaa no sukh agalaa jinaa anthar naam nivaas ||1||

O Nanak, the Gurmukhs live in absolute peace; the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
