What is the discription of a shajdhari sikh? is he / she a person who have cut thier hair or are they the ones which have long hair but haven't taken the Pahul.

The actual word is Sehejdhari, sehej means "with ease", and this refers to those who are gradually growing into Sikhi. It could also refer to people of non-Sikh background who have just began to follow Sikhi and intend to take Amrit in future, and also those who are from Sikh families, keep full kesh but haven't taken Amrit. They would be called keshdhari as well. Those who are from Sikh families but cut their hair do not fall into the sehejdhari category. They are called patit.

Hope that clarifies

sehajdhari sikhs word originated since Guru Gobind Singh ji's Time. There were Guruji's Followers(Not all but Many) who requested Guru ji that' Guruji, Since some of us are working, some have businesses, your Rehat Maryada is very difficult to follow 100% suddenly, like growing Hair,Beard.......so on'.

than Guruji told them'No Problem, You do it Saheje Saheje(Slowly...Slowly)'. From there Sahejdhari word had emerged.

All roots to Sikhi or Sikhism have Offshooted from Guru Nanak Devji. We cannot tell that Sehajdharis are not Sikhs nor Naamdhairs are not sikhss or Neeldharis are not sikhs or followers of Udasis are not sikhs.

This is Sikhi Garden created byGuru Nanak Dev ji. All flowers cannot be the same. Some are far better than others. Some are High...Some are low. Some have good Fragrance....some not.....Ultimately it all depends on Satguru Sache Patshah How he want to keep the Garden.

Do you have any sources? There are enough historic accounts of Gurujee asking Sikhs that if you want even a nail's worth space in my charan, you have to take Amrit. It is totally absurd to even think that Gurujee would give His shardhalus an option to keep kesh or not. Yes He never forced anyone and loved everyone irrespectively, but whoever wanted to be in His charan was to keep kesh. In fact, the tradition of keeping kesh started at the time of Sahib Siri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Gurujee was not like today's Babbay who become the kind of guru they want. He wanted Sikhs to become the way Guru wants them to be.

Naamdharis are not part of the Sikh community even though they look like Sikhs. They follow a living guru which is totally against the principles of Gurmat.

SGPC sticks to old definition of Sehajdhari

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, December 3, 2008

Members of the SGPC executive, led by its president Avtar Singh, today laid down the definition of a Sehajdhari Sikh.

Sticking to the definition given in the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925, the committee members have stated that Sehajdhari Sikhs are those who are born in non-Sikh families, but follow the tenets of Sikhism. A Sehajdhari Sikh is thus a non-Sikh who performs ceremonies according to Sikh rites; who does not use tobacco, does not consume halal meat in any form; who is not a “patit” and who recites the mulmantra of Guru Granth Sahib.

In the resolution passed during a meeting held this evening, the SGPC pointed out that the definition of Sehajdhari given in the Section 2 (10-A) of the Gurdwara Act states that the word “sehajdhari” consists of two words “sehaj” (slowly) and “dhari” (adopt a religious path) and hence these are those novices who slowly move on the path of Sikhism to adopt its doctrine, ethics and tenets.

A Sehajdhari, therefore, is one who has entered the path of Sikhism and he will continue to be a Sehajdhari Sikh till he fully accepts the moral and spiritual vows of Sikhism, to be called a practicing Sikh. The SGPC resolution also made it clear that when a Sehajdhari Sikh becomes a keshdhari Sikh, but he chooses to trim his body hair, he will not be a Sehajdhari Sikh. Similarly, if a person born into a Sikh family (and is a Sikh), but chooses to disrespect his keshdhari roop he will not turn into a Sehajdhari Sikh but become a “patit”.

The SGPC would be filing an affidavit in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the basis of the resolution passed today.

Taking up a petition filed by five students who had been denied admissions to MBBS course in a SGPC-run medical college on the ground that they were either trimming their beards or plucking their eyebrows, the full bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court had on September 29 directed the SGPC to define a Sikh. The next date of hearing of the case is December 8.

Also pending in the court is a petition filed by the Sehajdhari Sikh Federation, challenging a notification issued by the Union of India, whereby the voting rights of the Sehajdhari Sikhs had been taken away.

First, where do you read that meaning of SAHAJ is Slowly-Slowly? Whole Guru Granth Sahib Ji describe it as an Avastha of Pramand. According to mahankosh, meaning of word Sahaj is:

Secondly, how can we say that it's very difficult for a household or bussiness man to keep beard, kesh, kirpan, turban, or to do nitnem.

If we compare sikhism's code of conduct with specially muslims or other religions,

we find it far easy to follow.

Guru ji himself says,

"Rehat Pyari Mujhko Sikh Pyara Naahi"

The story described above is mere a justification for our misdeeds.

Are you sure what about kabirji saying these words. Do you want to compare jattadharis to KHALSA? If someone want to explain literal meaning of Gurubani, first he should know the UTHANKA, where Gurubani was recited And about which etc.

I asked source about that sakhi you stated about Gurujee. If you want to go by Gurbani, there are several that anyone could use to prove their point. There are several that state how Vaheguru is in each hair. Moreover, the tuk you posted doesn't say anywhere that its "no problem" to cut kesh.

Source of this Sakhi is from the Katha in One of the Kirtan Darbars i attended in Amritsar two years back. The Parcharak was the Amritdhari with Long Beard.

Than according to you, Mardana,Bala, Mia Meerji,Painde Khan, ............. and Muslims who supported Guruji during War were not SIKHS?????

SehajDhari doesnot means Static Sikhi. Sehajdhari changes himself/Herself to accept full Sikhi but Sehaje Sehaje. But today People keep Kesh and Trim their Beards and call themsleves SIKH thru out their lives and donot change their lives as perscribed in Rehat Maryada.

Also if NAAMDHARIS are serving Living guru. WHAT IS DEAD GURU ACCORDING TO YOU????? True Sikh or Puran Sant or Brahmagyani never wants himself to be Called as GURU bcz they follow what Guru Gobind singh ji told(SGGSJI is Our Guru), even though the followers call them as Guru or Satguru. But they themselve never proclaim that they are Guru of Sikhism. True Sikh also never proclaim himslef as SIKH.
