True Mahapurakh usually have powers to read other's mind.

They aren't really bothered about the offering but see the BHAAVNA of the person.

Best option is to take something which other's usually offer.

At the meeting politely convey that you have certain amount of money for Seva and ask where should it be spend.

It's best to know what Seva is required at that particular time.

If one is to wish for help from sant/mahapursh, what should one offer or say? Should they do same as Guest mentioned or is would that humiliate them to offer them money, even if the mind is compassionate?

This is very much like when we go to Gurdwara , we do mutha take and we ask for the gift of a son, we ask for a new house, success in business more maya, yet we will go to Gurdwara with our hands in our pockets and at mutha take time pull out a 50p or at best a pound coin.

Guru Ji does not need any of our offerings, for they are His in the first place, but we have a duty to show our Guru the utmost respect so when we go to Gurdwara we should go like we are going to go in the presence of a King. so we should not go empty handed. However small the offering we should take it with great joy and humility.

In the same way when we go see Sant/Mahapursh, if they are True mahapursh they will not ask for anything ( and if they do then maybe you should run a mile) but you show not go empty handed.

You can take them parshaad - milk, sugar, butter, almonds etc. You could take a ramalla. You could take them some material for cholla. Or what about woolly socks or sleevless jumper to wear under the chola or a dastaar.

we unfortunately went emptyhanded as did not know we should take somthing. But noticed that others had put money in front of them, not loads just like little offering, others may have given other offering. if we had known we would have. hope this did not affect our meeting, as I kept thinking to myslf if they are true then they would not mind that we have not given them anything and they did not ask for anything, so thought its just ur own sharda if u give them somthing, that all they look for is compassion and sincerity and respect.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa

Waheguru ji ki fateh

As per Sukhmani Sahib

One who prays for the four cardinal blessings should commit himself to the service of the Saints. If you wish to erase your sorrows, sing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, within your heart. If you long for honor for yourself, then renounce your ego in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. If you fear the cycle of birth and death, then seek the Sanctuary of the Holy. Those who thirst for the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan - Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them. ||5||

Now everybody has a different notion about whose Saadhu-Sant so lets not get into that.

Crux is that MAYA's Gujraan.

Saadhu-Sant also depend on Maya for survival i.e food, clothing or shelter if not cash.

Everyone reading must know how much it takes to run their household. Now imagine how much it takes to acquire land, construct a Gurudwara and run it !

Gurudwara's are run by Satguru's grace and Sangat's Seva.

Mahapurakh is a person whose Santokhi.

He uses major amount of Sangat's money for public or community welfare and meagre for personal use.

For example check out the work done by Kalgidhar Society

http://www.barusahib.org/

Don't think any other is doing so much work for Khalsa Panth and the Needy.

So be practical and contribute !

guest2 - do not feel bad. If they are true sant they will not want anything, they KNOW your inner sharda, and if you are saaf and clean inside then that is enough for them, many people go to Mahapurkh and they are bad inside, they go to 'see' what the mahapurkh are like or they go to test the mahapurkh or try some other games or mischief but Sant only want pyare and sharda.

What ever your mind set is when you go see someone spiritually elevated, that is what you will come away with. If you go with evil or nasty intent then you will not come away with anything good.
