Allow baptized Sikh students to carry kirpan: SGPC to UP govt

Amritsar, Mar 14 (PTI) SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar today condemned the ban imposed by the Uttar Pradesh Education Board on baptized Sikh students to carry kirpan in schools and asked the state government to review its decision. Kirpan (a small sword of six inches) is the religious symbol of the Sikh community, he said. Makkar said the decision of the Education Board was autocratic and an attack on the the religious autonomy of Sikh affairs. The state government should review its decision, he said adding otherwise, it would create restlessness in the Sikh community.

Now , see brother , this is a classic example of oppression ! Yes , I agree we are troubled by such laws which prevent us from carrying a blunt kirpan which can't slice through a fruit , let alone harm a person .

But , then what were they thinking when they banned it ?

1) Lets teach these prrick sikhs a lesson and tell them who's the boss

or

2) we respect sikhs but why do these kids need to wear these ? i think its irrelevant today

Now , the guy above me would say that we need to go kharkoo for this and do all the hungama and stuff . Yes we need to be militarized but why lift the kirpan when you can solve such things by negotiation .

Carrying kirpan is permissible for sikhs according to Indian constitution .

Uttar pardesh is not above the law . The law states that sikh has every right to carry kirpan !

till that law is not struck down , we can get people to bow to our religious requirements semi-peacefully !

Lets be a bit secular and exploit the loopholes for our benefit and benefit of humanity ! :laugh2:

SIkhs get picked up and killed in false encounters ... the get locked up under false cases .. fa,ilies of saheeds are terrorised... no one said we were going to resort to violence AjeetSinghPunjabi. Obviously this will be overruled because in India law states Sikhs can carry Kirpans. If they don't overrule it then we'll bring a court case. If they still don't overrule then we will all march into UP schools with our Kirpans. And if they still don't overrule it, then we will take our Kirpans out.
