India News: 'Mughals blundered by massacring Sikh Gurus'

2-September-2004

New Delhi, A Muslim cleric said Thursday that the community shared a close relationship with the Sikhs, but the bond had been clouded by the historical blunders committed by Mughal emperors.

Referring to the massacre of Sikh gurus by the Mughal emperors, Imam Maulana Moazzam Ahmed of the Fatehpuri mosque in old Delhi said: "They (emperors) were Muslims only by name but their acts were not in tune with the Islamic philosophy."

The fifth Guru Arjan Dev was killed by the men of Mughal emperor Jehangir for supporting a rebellion by his son, while the ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded by emperor Aurangzeb for failing to perform a miracle in his court.

"But Sikhs and Muslims have always shared a close relationship," Ahmed told an all-faith meeting here to celebrate the fourth centenary celebrations of the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib.

hmmm good...but i dont like the way they said guru sahib FAILED to perform a miracle...he didn't FAIL to perform a miracle he REFUSED to do so. there's a world of a difference between fail and refuse.
