My Reasons

Following are my reasons why Sikhs should be in power in India :

We have seen five hundred years of Islamic rule where non-Muslims were
suffering from continuous and endless oppression. Also, we have seen
fifty six years where India has been ruled by those claiming to be
secular and democratic, and also to be Hindus. These so called
nationalists have a large list of oppressions done against minorities on
their resume. Operation Bluestar, the mass murder of Sikhs in major
Indian cities following the assassination of Prime Minister Mrs Indira
Gandhi, the demolition of the Babri Masjid and the riots that followed,
and the more recent Gujarat riots are some of their "landmark
achievements". Hinduism, which has always been known to be based on
universal tolerance and acceptance, has been given the new name of
Hindutva by these miscreants, with an agenda to assimilate the
minorities into their lot.

In such a situation, Sikhism, which believes in religious freedom and
tolerance is the only solution to avoid any future anarchy. The peace
and communal harmony that prevailed in Punjab during the reign of
Maharaja Ranjit Singh has never been seen anywhere else in India. Hindus,
Muslims and Sikhs were ministers in the cabinet as well as senior
officers in the army. Any attack on the soil of Punjab was seen as an
assault on the entire population and was met with a combined and stiff
resistance. It was because of a few traitors that the British were able
to succeed in colonizing Punjab.

Having seen the reign of so called Muslims and Hindus following a
distorted interpretation of their respective faiths, it is time to hand
over power to those who have made the most sacrifices for this country.
93 out of 121 who were hanged to rebel against the British were Sikhs.
The wars of 1965 and 1971 are more evidences to prove their bravery in
the field of battle. No Indian king in the history of India has ever
defeated Pathans and set foot in Kabul, their ancestral home. It is
Maharaja Ranjit Singh who has this honor. History has it that the Afghan
soldiers used to dress up as women in burqa and slip away to escape
being captured by Sikh soldiers. This is also the reason why perhaps
some Indians poke fun at their Pakistani friends for wearing salwar
kameez. Another thing that has been learned is that even to this date,
Afghan mothers put their children to sleep by scaring them in the name
of Hari Singh Nalwa, one of the most brave Sikh warriors ever born.

In view of the above mentioned historical facts and figures, it will be
only wise to start contemplating a situation where history can be made
to repeat itself. The only problem is that we will need a leader like
Maharaja Ranjit Singh and a general like Hari Singh Nalwa.

This is just my way of looking at things. I am not perfect and stand
corrected if someone feels the need to enlighten me more. Suggestions
and criticisms are most welcome.

Veerji,

another saying goes like this:

The Singhs can when ever fight there way through Delhi, Kabul or even Rome! Even if they are 100 and the others are many more....this does not stop them!

But when they have they power.....every one can defeat them!

The thing is throughout our history....for only a small period of time have we been able to hold on to power.....why? because we never agree with each other....we can not accept that the other Misl or Jathehbandi is bigger! that is it!

When and if so a Khalsa Nation is formed (which there is 99% chances that it would not in the near future)...the main weak point would be disunity! we can not be together!

but only under One Ruler, we are together! that is Saachi Pathshahi, Guru Gobind Singh ji....

Veer....no other Sikh leader can unite us.....and rule us for a long periode....

i am not being negative.....but that is what history tells us.....

when we are threatened we are best....otherwise we are weakest!

personally i think a lot of Sikhs are at good positions in India.......what more can we do when we are just 2% of the ppl?

You know, if we were to rule.....everyone will start saying....oh, the Sikhs discriminate everyone! like in a pluralistic state as India......a small community as the Sikhs, can not

have all the positions......that would be 'too good' :D )
