Not exactly banning, but I mentioned starting by having uniforms at work, but that too will work if the wide majority of the society feels it is an important step. As for banning media that objectifies women, I mean, we gotta take some steps somewhere, right? If not a total outright ban, fine, there could be baby steps taken in that direction as well.

Very good points by everyone, but I believe keeping ourselves busy with employment and even technological advancements so that the society is advanced in that sense do not totally solve the question of rape. They may prevent it, but not eliminate it because deep down underneath people are still going to have that instinct. For this disease of rape to be tackled I believe we need Dharmic living and faith in God. When we walk in His Will and in His fear then we're saved from sins that we would otherwise wouldn't hesitate to commmit.
