I'm Losing Faith In Sikhism. How Do I Tell My Parents?

veerjee take a look at this site i hope u know and they are now trying to challenge bani and i strongly suppose these are pakis operating from the uk

and these from india who will particularly target bhagat bani and will only pick half tuk from which one will fall into their tail spin and start questioning bani

Why would you think about leaving sikhi at all? THink of all the sacarafices made by our Gurus for you and your chosing to throw it all away? But your free to do whatever you like but i think you should really take time and think about this

Okay I'm 16 Years old and I have found some discrepancies in Sikhism that have caused me to lose faith. First of all guru Nanak dev ji did all he could to avoid violence and he was automatically respected wherever he went. Guru gobind Singh ji was war oriented and proclaimed Sikhs as the warrior race. Guru gobind Singh ji also said that we must keep a turban and Kesh. On the other hand guru Nanak dev ji said in one of his sakhis where the pandit was tying a bracelet on him, that he won't wear it because no exterior feature will help someone reach god. In addition guru Nanak dev ji said that it doesn't matter what religion you are as long as you're one with god and are humble. Guru Gobind Singh ji said we should wear a turban because kings at the time wore it and we should be proclaimed as kings. In my opinion that's not humble at all. Guru Nanak dev ji said that we are all equal no matter what and you shouldn't care if you have something others don't. Guru gobind Singh ji gave us a turban so we stick out and be recognized as Sikhs. Again not humble. Also Sikhs are not allowed to have their backs and feet towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. But guru Nanak dev ji in one of his sakhis guru nakak dev ji went to a mosque and pointed his feet towards Mecca which Muslims could not do but he said that god is everywhere. I believe in guru Nanak dev ji but not the others after him. I believe I should cut my kesh now because I don't see a reason to keep it. How do I approach my parents about this? They aren't really religious and my dad trims but he loves India and Indian culture. He's very authoritarian but how do I approach my patents about this?

i heard a katha of giani sant singh ji maskeen on what is the spiritual reason of keeping our head covered.

a yogi did a lot of meditation on god and the "ras" of the name of god kept on going away from his kesh. so the yogi wrapped his long hair around his head like a turban so the "ras" would not go out. in islam, the muslims cover their head while doing their prayers so the "ras" won't go away. In hinduism, only a few religious people cover their heads while reading the vedas.

i did a lot of research and i think that GURU NANAK HAD WEAPONS. i saw a picture of guru nanak dev ji's talwar, chakkar, and chimta which is kept in patna sahib. even in guru's bani it says "tarkas teer kamaan saang tegband gun dhaat." (ang 16, guru nanak)

You're making a terrible mistake. I'm the same age as you bro, and the amount Sikhi has helped me is unbelievable. The reasons that you're providing are very illogical. Everyone needs a uniform to distinguish who they are. Especially a group like us who needs to be recognizable and ready to help anyone at any time. All the great prophets and spiritual beings who walked this planet all wore long hair/beards with pride and didn't conform to how society ran. Start reading baani, listen to raag kirtan and do simran. You'll see how much value there is. This is the age where you're learning about/facing the world and it's time to start focusing on spirituality. It'll help you a lot.

Why do people need to be aggressive?

It is true though appearances do play a big part and people forget its what inside and actions that count.

Advice is to have faith if you feel you need to cut your hair will it make you a better person?

What about people who are bald (male baldness or due to medical reasons - leukemia) are they less spiritual than those who have full heads of hair?

Most men go bald anyway after 50-60. So do they get less spiritual?

Some people have lots of body hair some have little. Are the ones with lots of body hair more spiritual?

This does not make sense at all.

really would appreciate it if ou these two tracks and maybe re-think . But dont feel forced because you'll never see the beauty of sikhi if your forced into it, hopefully one day maharaj will do kirpa.

Also i think it'd be really good if someone asnwered these doubt so that if anyone else reading this has teh answers. I would do so myself but i dont think id be very good at explain sorry but if anyone can that'd be great. Thank you

That what Guru Nanak ji told us is different from other Gurus. I love Guru Nanak Ji's teachings and totally agree with you where he said to think of everyone as equal. Then why to have different identity?

I think that it was for that time only when Muslim leaders were asking people to become Muslims by hook or by crook. So that if Khalsa is somewhere, cruel Muslim leaders will think 10 times before attacking them. I feel Guru Gobind Singh ji tried to teach us that if we believe that we know we are right then we should not accept Muslim offers in any circumstance because Everyone knew that Muslim leaders are doing wrong and are not connected to God in any way.

But thinking of it as "we are unique" or "we are special" i guess its a really really false perspective a Sikh should have.

You can cut your hair if you want because I believe when you will be free from your this thinking, you will go more into learning Guru Nanak Ji's teachings and will understand it with in your soul and who knows you will keep you long hair again.

I might be totally wrong but it is my perspective FOR NOW.
