Allegedly No Consensus Taken From Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib in Haryana Sikh Excommunication

BY SIKH24 EDITORS / IN INDIA, MULTIMEDIA, PUNJAB, VIDEOS, WORLD / JULY 18, 2014

AMRITSAR SAHIB (July 18, 2014)A video has surfaced online which alleges to show that the Haryana Sikh excommunication edict may have been taken without the consensus of all five Takhts.

While responding to media queries, Giani Gurbachan Singh stated that the excommunication of the three Haryana Sikh leaders was done after deliberation with the fifth Jathedar, who was not actually present at the meeting.

The Sikh Rehit Maryada requires the consensus of five Takhts, however due to disagreements with the Hazoor Sahib Management Committee, its jathedar is sometimes not invited to meetings. In this situation, a representative takes his place. From the video, it seems like the Gurmatta was taken only in the presence of four Jathedars, and a fifth person was not present.

The excommunication edict has defied the procedures set from past centuries. A large number of the Sikh population has denounced the hukamnama, stating that it was taken under political pressure from the Shiromani Akali Dal (B).

Sri Hazur Sahib has it's own issues with the SGPC, only one month ago, the Deccani Sikhs were protesting at the SGPC asking for the All India Gurdwaras Act to be implemented, which would mean they would bring Sri Hazur Sahib under their control.

Time for this sleeping kaum to wake up and take the akal takht back from the masands!

OK, tell us what you are going to do. Thanks.

LOL no Sikhs can do anything aboard India that can make an impact on Akal Takht. Sikhs outside of India can though make a showcase against Akal Takht for its long time corruption and not doing Sikhi interests. The thing is how... As much as we want to make a change it is hard when we are not even in Punjab. All we can hope is Sikhs in Punjab wake up before things get out of hand.
