Devotees take part in kar sewa at the historic Ramsar sarovar in Amritsar on Saturday.

Tribune News Service

Amritsar, September 17

Hundreds of devotees participated in the kar sewa of the historic Gurdwara Ramsar’s sarovar, where the Guru Granth Sahib was compiled and edited by the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev. Devotees, coming from diverse professional and social backgrounds, picked up silt from the bottom of the sarovar with spades. They then collected it in a pot and carried it over their heads with religious fervour and devotion. No paid labourers were hired as volunteers took part in the kar sewa. Earlier, Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale inaugurated the kar sewa along with officials of Akal Takht and the SGPC after performance of the bhog of akhand path.
