Waheguru Ji

We are thinking of organising a gurmat camp for august 2005. to be held at GSGHKS MANCHESTER

what i need to know is what you would want in a camp and how u would want it organised.

We are looking to call 3 ustaads from india

one for kirtan

one tabla

one for granthi saaj (sarangi)

the camp would be for 2 weeks depending on numbers

sant anoop singh has shown a keen interest and wants to participate in this camp on a major level.

so if you could kindly tell me what you would want and we can go from there

Thank You Ji

veerjee,

there are many great camps around the world ----

for example in BC there is west coast sikh youth alliance's annual sikh youth camp (http://www.wcsya.org), as well as sikh vision's annual camp (http://www.sikhvision.com)

in toronto there is the sikh youth retreat,

in uk and california there's khalsa camp (http://www.khalsacamp.com/uk/)

and sikh camp in maryland (http://www.sikhlink.net/camp.htm), sikh camp in houston (http://www.sikhcamp.org)..

all of these have some great ideas.

i would suggestion some of the following - these are things i wish i had done because i am really lacking in these fields:

1) proper and full santhiya of how much bani you can cover in 2 weeks - perhaps all of chaupai sahib and tua prasad swaiye santhiya + gurbani meanings + discussion

2) a 2-week course on Sikhi Public Relations; how to research Sikhi, how to do Sikhi presentations, English katha (www.gurmatstudies.com), etc.

3) a full course for Singhs and Kaurs on the glory and legend of Sikh Women and their influence and importance in past, present and future Sikh society

4) A daily workshop for older youth about Guru Sahib's time, the time of Khalsa raaj, the invasion by British, the present state of Slavery, and the upcoming future Khalsa Raaj and getting ready for it

5) The importance of staying away from vikaars... kaam... addiction to MSN... drugs.. alcohol... racism... things that still plague me...

that's all i can think of right now....

please forgive my mistakes

Thank u for ur inputs

keep them coming!!

We have been able to get Harjeet Singh Ji "BITTU" to teach tabla for this camp. He is abs amazing and used to play tabla for Bhai Niranjan Singh Ji before Amritpal Singh

As there are many other camps that deal with the Sikh way of life and history

We are possibly thinking of turning this camp into a gurmat sangeet camp while also teaching those who cannot to speak and read punjabi, and understanding paath

please give ur views??!!!

Thanks
