I am would like to know if it is okay or acceptable to perform nitnem at amritvele by reading/reciting five banis off of personal computer? or we have to do it from potheez?

Whats the difference?

How do most of the people perform nitnem?

Please educate me...

Well for your nitnem, the more naam/baani you do the better. If you can concentrate on the gurbani itself, and not browser the internet at the same time :e: I don't think it should be a problem.

Whenever I get too late from work, I listen to rehraas sahib on my computer, and do other seva. As long as you're ik man ik chit, and not doing anything else but concentrating on gurbani, its ok.

You should also do some naam simran in the morning before doing your punj bania, as well as before rehraas sahib and sohilaa sahib.

My half a cent.

Agree with Khalsa, Naam japna isnt about how you do it or where you do it , its about how much of ur heart is connected with Gurbani and the guru. Remember the sakhi of Guru Gobind Singh jee's Darbar where some singh who attended the darbar kept thinking they should have gone to the mela like few other singhs, while the singhs who went to the mela kept their mind on the Guru.

So do Nitname from the Computer if you wish but make sure the requirements set for Gutka etc type nitname are met, i.e dont wear shoes, cover the head.

I want to thank my Veer(s) for their reply to my post. I understand the requirements should be met. Another question rise about meeting the requirment is that I do panj bani nitnem at work as I work on graveyard, so at 2 am I do my panj ishnaana and recite/read panj banis from my workstation while sitting in chair So, I would also like to know what you guys think about it? Doing nitnem after panj ishnaana and sitting in chair but taking off shoes.

Your valuable comments are much appreciated.

Mein Murukh pardon me pray.gif .

My opinion:

No one can evaluate or judge the relationship you have with your Guru.

We all have our own ways of doing nitnem. Some do it fast. some do it slow. some do it while singing, etc...

Just do what feels right to you.

At least you're DOING it right?? Eventually the respect for Gurbani will come once Guru Sahib Himself blesses you..
