Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh sangat ji! I have been coming to this forum to read about various things but this is the first time I'm posting anything, and it happens to be a request for the sangat's help on my dilemma. I (24, male, non-amritdhaari) have been in a relationship with a non-Sikh girl for the past 1 year and 8 months. I have never been in any other relationship, neither have I ever thought I would ever be. I in fact used to think it is something not destined for me and I was content with having an arranged marriage as well. But I happened to meet this girl. I have always thought that this is the girl i want to marry and she too sees me…

In Compassion

I am a practicing Buddhist and I've been following the incident in Wisconsin closely. I also worked for a Sihk in a convenience store several years ago. Good man. While our religious views differ, I just simply wanted to offer comassion to my Sihk brothers and sisters. Sihk, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, the list goes on... Have all experienced discrimination and persecution at some point. I have felt this sting personally. If I'm not mistaken, one of the teachings of The Ten Gurus was to Seek to understand rather than retaliate. Sihks are a good people and I have nothing but but the utmost respect for your religion as well as your people. May you all get through this …

Dear all, Before you read this please do not just tar it with the same brush and say go and do a search on the subject, I really want you to try and understand my situation I am 25 year old amritdhari woman and I am in despair over my facial hair, to set the record straight I would like to point out that it is not your ‘average’ amount of rom as in the soft hair that covers our bodies from head to toe, my facial hair is thick and coarse and ranges from 3-4cm the shortest to about 6-7 cm the longest. I have recently completed my masters degree at university with a good result and now I am looking for work after having several interviews I have been tuned down for posts a…

i don't know what to do, expect for a now i have got myself in a difficult situation. I've been friends with this girl for over 5years now, but have come to the realisation that my feelings for her are stronger. This girl is amazing and has a positive influence on me.She comes from a Gursikh family and has very strong beliefs and i know she would never consider me to be anything apart from her brother. Its just i can't stop thinking about her. Am i falling in love with her? I know these feelings are wrong and i would never tell her as it would ruin our frienship. Its just i find it hard been around her because of these feelings. I've started to avoid her as this is the …

In response to the post about petition for women Panj Pyaras

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ali Fateh Ji, I have been a lurker here for years mainly to grab information for use in articles etc. But I noticed the post in the other forum and since I am not a member I can not post there. I see many of you are back and forth with arguments on whether you personally think women should be allowed or not to do Panj pyara di seva, and I wanted to chime in just to say a couple things. 1. Nowhere has Guru Gobind Singh Ji written that women are not allowed. Nor did he ever write explicitly that it must always be males. Some of you try to make argument that no women were ever chosen while Guru Ji was still here but there i…

In your opinion , is homosexuality a result of sexual misconduct in previous lives ? 1 2 3 4

I have often at times wondered why I am the way I am , but I also remember 101% that I didn't have a choice in it. If something makes me happy and I do have many such things in life thanks to god, then I often think its not just gurprasad but I earned it by some noble deeds in past lives. As Guru Nanak dev ji says in Japji sahib "Jeti sirath upaai vekha, vin karma ke miley layi" (As vast the world I see with all things in it, without good karma what can I receive and get ). The world is full of food, yet millions go hungry, world is full of clothes , yet millions go naked, so much of land is there on earth and yet homelessness . Because without karmas, we…

Inappropriate or not?

Hi there, Have just stumbled across a little finding online. There is a new(ish?) restaurant in Nottingham which goes by the name of Singh's www.singhsnottingham.co.uk However if you take a look at the website there appears to be a singh(or two) playing the harmonium and tabla. Is this just a cheap show of kirtan? (if so this is very unfortunate) Whilst serving none vegetarian meals and alcohol? Is this really appropriate? Flick through the reviews..there is a comment along the lines of the tabla playing adding to the ambient atmosphere... I'm wondering if anyone can shed any more information on this?
