I posted this under the anonymous section as I couldn't seem to start a topic in other sections. My question is simple, and not in need of anonymity. I visited the Golden Temple a couple years ago, it was for the first time so we visited the museum aswell. From the museum visit, a quote stuck in my head, and has been in my head ever since, yet I haven't been able to find it on the internet anywhere. I was therefore wondering if anyone here had any background on it for me, for my personal knowledge. The quote was, i think; ''your religion is dear to you, mine is dear to me'' by Guru Gobind Singh Ji Any information would be helpful, for my personal knowledge. Thanks.

Meeting the right women/Marraige

Bit of an awkward topic but I would like to know where/how (as a sikh) do you meet a woman for marraige? I am 23 years old now and feel as if I need a companionship. I am not amritdhari nor have I kept my kesh but I do believe strongly in sikhi and hope that one day I would be able to become a gursikh. I need a woman who respects that but the girls in my generation are different. Is there any sort of services available to meet someone? Or is a rishta my only chance? lol

ever since i can into Sikhism and started following my gurus bachan im finding that the sikh people i come across either aren't aware to true beliefs or know but dont care. i was working with a baptized sikh who after talking about our beliefs told me i was taking amrit to strict and was going to scare everyone i know with this.but all i was stating to her is what our guru says in guru granth sahib ji and rehet. She stated to that she does not do any bani or simran and was doing everything our gurus told us not to. what is the point of taking amrit if you dont want to change? please help me. what should i do or can do to help her. i dont like to see my fellow brothers a…

I have sinned to think he was far...Maybe I looked for him in the wrong places. I thought he was somewhere outside in the world. Though it's true that he is outside too. But he is somewhere else...somewhere which is so much closer than the outside. Way closer then I think. He is inside of me. He is that close. I have sinned...I thought he was far. But I had forgotton that he is so near. Problem isn't it? Something that truly needs to be dealt with... What would you do?

SSA All, After joing SikhSangat... i have seen or we can say noticed... that... People talk about Sikhism..... n being Khalsa... But There is nothing called UNITY in them.... Previously sikhs were classified as - Amritdhari/Non Amritdhari/Clean Shave/converted etc. Now they are classifying themselves as: UK- SIkhs American - Sikhs Indian - Sikhs Australian - Sikh .. . . . .Bla bla bla Sikhs..... Where is Unity...?? These differences are crested by sikhs themselves..... n coz of their attitude... !! Eh ki hai... If by chance there will be any kind of attack on our religion again.... like 1984 - first thing which will happen. people will blame each other..…

Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well.
