Midlands firm that once rewarded staff with extra unpaid leave has entered administration after the breakdown of a deal to settle debts. According to a notice placed in the London Gazette this month, DBS Law Limited appointed administrators on 9 October. A spokesperson for the firm said it remains open for business and a buyer has already been lined up to acquire the practice, which has offices in Birmingham and Nottingham. Documents filed with Companies House confirm the administration came following the failure of a company voluntary arrangement designed to pay creditors owed money by DBS. The Gazette understands the appointment of administrators was made…

Sikh Channel-Yesterdays Youth Show 1 2

WJKK WJKF Just want to congratulate the sikh youth show yesterday on sikh channel for providing awareness of pakhandi babas, and other issues that were mentioned on the show. It was a gr8 show, with lots to learn, and very proud of the guest paajis they brought on the show. This is a very big issue in our community and lots of people have been affected by this, but are afraid to contact anybody in case of repercussions, or the fear that has been created within them by these so called people. It sounds good saying if anybody has an issue with anyone, then they will deal with it, but it may not change what has happened to those that have been affected in negative ways …

Sikh Chaplaincy In The Uk
by Guest Guest- 1 reply

In this programme Manjit Singh speaks with guests who have been involved with the UK Sikh Chaplaincy Service which was set up in 2005. The guests include Sital Singh Maan, one of the founder Trustees of the group, Parkash Kaur Sohal and Joga Singh who have both been helping and supporting patients in hospitals for many years. Chaplaincy care has been operating in many hospitals and health authorities in predominately Sikh areas for some time but much of this has been on a local level operated more from the strength and understanding of local health authorities and individuals rather than from a national strategy. The organisation allows the c…

Sikh Civil Rights Organisation In The Uk?
by Guest Singh- 0 replies

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh I am writing to request your assistance regarding Sikh civil rights in the UK. I used to work for an employer in the England who passed bigoted and racially insensitive remarks to me as a Sikh. The kirpan was referred to as a weapon and I was introduced to people at work as being armed and being allowed to kill. This is an affront to the hard won civil rights of Sikhs in the UK. They refused to accept polite explanatins of the significance of 5Ks and stand by their statement. My life was also made miserable by various tactics. I need to know which Sikh organisation in the UK will take up this issue and ask them to retract thei…

Do you know a funny Singh or Kaur? Someone who constantly makes you laugh with their jokes, storytelling or observations about life? Now there's a chance for those amateur comedians to share their gift, through the purest form of comedy... stand-up. We are organizing a Sikh comedy night to be held in Toronto and are currently accepting participants. Those selected will have a chance to compete for the title of Comedy Singh/Kaur and the $1,000 prize that goes with it. No one is too old or too young... they just need to be funny. All that is required is a few minutes of material, in English or Panjabi. It can be drawn from anywhere... growing up in a Sikh family, interac…

Sikh Community in Scotland: moving from America to Scotland 1 2
by Guest guest academic singh- 10 replies

Hi everyone, I am a singh who was born and raised in America. I am considering moving to Edinburgh, Scotland. I wanted to ask the UK Sikhs on this board about what the Sikh community in Scotland is like. 1. Are there a decent amount of Sikhs in Scotland? 2. What is the Sikh community in Scotland like? (In other words: is it made up mostly of new immigrants, or Sikhs who immigrated long ago? Are the Sikhs there more from a rural background or an urban background? Are the Sikhs there generally religious or secular? Are there a decent number of Gurdwaras?) 3. Are there significant Sikh communities outside of Scotland (in Nort…

Sikh Community Thank You + Slight Tangent

Hello! I just wanted to give some feedback to the Sikh community, This comming from a white Christian (I only mention this so you know the demographic and see not all people from a certain group are the same) I hope the following will be acceptable coming from me, Just some feelings and thoughts that I wanted to get across. Too often people only speak to say bad things. Firstly I'd like to say that from personal experience I've always found Sikhs to be kind, honest ,helpful ,polite and accepting and I was raised by my parents ( both Christian) with a similar sterotype passed down to me. But from my personal experience it's no sterotype , Sikhs are always there for tho…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I found an article on another forum about a Sikh who embraced Islam. So i decided to write a topic about this issue so that the sangat can understand why they converted. Based on my own personal experiences too so that the sangat can get there head around this issue. So why do most of the Sikhs who have embraced other religions, what were there reasons?: MISUNDERSTANDING SIKHI. For starters few either got misguided that the Guru Nanak was a muslim because he performed the hajj and try to say that Sikhism is a sect of Islam. ANSWER: Guru Nanak when he was asked by a muslim what are you hindu or muslim his answer was neithe…

Now this is about as random as they come - and I should post it in my 'random historical photos' thread but they've taken my rights away to post photos on old threads - but it's kinda weird because I've had this photo in my collection for years (dont ask - I collect tidbits about the history of London. Sad - I know ☹️ but never noticed before what kind of cuisine this restaurant was serving. 'Sikh Cuisine'. This one is from the 1960s in Brook Street in upper crust Mayfair just around the corner from the former American Embassy. Got me thinking though - with the early 1900s British studies on the Sikh Diet and the 1960s published data on how Sikh children born in the UK w…
