What Is With Amritdhari Sikhs Acting So Elitist? 1 2 3 4
by Guest Question Ask- 37 replies

Why don't they eat food made by regular people? Are they considered too good compared to the average person? Suddenly if their parents are not yet Amrit Shakked, they will not eat from the hand that once fed them? I've seen someone on here say "We all know that God doesn't listen to your prayers if you are not Amrit Shakked" and the forum members agreed. Why do some Amritdharis make their food only in steel/iron plates? Because Bhai Sahb Randhir Singh did it Doesn't this all go against the basic principles of Sikhi?

What Is Wrong With Sikhs/muslims In Uk? 1 2 3
by Guest Canadian Sikh- 26 replies

I am a Sikh born and raised in Canada. A lot of my good friends are Muslim, and I've never had a problem with any of them. So it was really surprising for me to hear that the Sikh and Muslim communities in the UK do not get on well at all. Why is this? In Canada, we hang out together, listen to Punjabi music together and respect one another. Instead of being divided among religious lines, we are united by our common "desiness" i.e. our cultures are really similar/the same, eat the same food, same language (or very similar), same music etc... And I have heard people say that it is because Muslims vastly outnumber Sikhs in the UK and so have now turned on them, but the trut…

What Makes Someone A Sant?
by Guest Questions- 9 replies

This has been on my mind for a while. Why are there so many sants? Who labels these people as "sant" and why? Is there certain criteria someone has to fill to be a sant? Why are there no women who have been labelled as "sants"? Are they spiritually unable to reach the same level as the man?

What more can I do?

Wjkk Wjkf All. Currently I am doing 5 Japji Sahib Paath everyday for 40 days. I have asked something from Guru Ji and am hoping for that at the end of the 40 days. Is there any other paath or shabad I could do also? I do not have the time to do Sukhmani Sahib everyday as it takes me almost 2 hours to do. If I need to repeat another 40 days at the end of this cycle, is there any other paath or shabad that is good to do when you are asking Guru Sahib for something? Thank you in advance.

What OTHER Sikh Girls Do 1 2 3 4
by Guest jigsaw_puzzled_singh- 37 replies

What other Sikh girls do. Why should it bother you ? so much. She is not your family. Not your daughter. She's got her own mind to make her own decisions. Just as you have yours. Do girls make notes on what you do. Keep tabs on you. Then talk about you. Write about you. Start threads about you. Post messages about you. And then base their opinion on an entire gender of an entire religion based entirely on what they might have heard YOU do ? Yes. It's as silly and irrational as it sounds. And yet, on this forum, it still bothers you. What Sikh girls do. Not just bothers you. But consumes you. Eats you and destroys you. Stops you thinking strai…

by Guest anon- 5 replies

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh I've been lost for so long and am unbelievably afraid today. Haven't done any paath in so long (am amritdhari), I just need someone to tell me where to start, and I need to start tonight or this time will never end. Should I force myself to do Sukhmani Sahib, or let myself do as much as I feel like? Thank you

What position are you supposed to take while doing paath
by Guest CuriousSingh- 4 replies

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Sangat Jiyo I want to start off by saying that I'm not amritdhari but I quit meeting eat cutting my hair and I started doing paath recently. I'm just curious as to what position I should be taking when doing paath. As I'm quite tall sitting for as long as I have to until I finish my paath the part we call our "moor" of our back starts hurting. It hurts to the point where I feel like sitting around and not doing anything after paath. My question is should I do whatever makes me comfortable as long as my legs are crossed? Where are my elbows supposed to be? Can I lean against the wall behind me? All help would be appreciated …
