Visakhi

I was listening to two radio stations who were organizing events under the Visakhi banner. One was a dinner and dance which is hosted by a Punjabi station, who does give allot coverage to the Sikh faith i.e. reciting of prayer, kirtian, dhadi etc. I know uni students organize gigs under the visakhi banner which is still wrong but radio station like this to be organising Visakhi dinner and dancers is wrong, didnt expect this from them.

VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh!! I just remembered about this after the other topic got bumped up. I'm just interested to see where the sangat stand, I've got a link to a reasonably short quiz which places one's political standing across two axis, one economic, and the other social. Please take it and put up your result http://www.politicalcompass.org/test I've taken this test a few times, the original result was just a few points top-left from the centre, but I get more and more left each time :S Economic Left/Right: -5.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.64 I've got a feeling this thread is going to fail completely but its worth a try lol VahegurooJ…

Prince Charles has sent a personal message of condolence to the family of a 63-year-old Sikh shopkeeper who was brutally murdered by some youths for free cigarettes and alcohol. “This country can ill-afford to lose such special people”, Charles said in his message to the family of Gurmail Singh Hayre, who migrated to Britain in 1962 from Nakodar in Punjab. Two young Asian men — Muawaz Khalid, 20, and Nabeel Shafi, 18 — have been found guilty of murder and face several years in jail when they are formally sentenced next month. The national executive council of the Sehajdhari Sikh Federation (SSF), a political party registered with the Election Commission of India, has decided to form a separate SGPC for ‘Patits’ and Sehajdhari Sikhs as they have been denied voting right in the SGPC elections. Condemning the new definition of the Sikh given by the High Court, SSF leaders stated that the fanatic attitude of the SGPC and the Delhi Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee the Sikh religion had been confined to the ‘keshdharis’ and ‘amritdharis’ only. Spokesperson of the federation Balwant Dhaliwal stated that the World Sikh Conference at Delhi was merely an eyewash of the Sarna brothers where 85 per cent …

Bhai Ram Singh also got original copy of his appointment as Jathedar of the Taksal, he, however, said that he would obey all directives of Baba Thakar Singh whom he held in hi…
