  1. Grays Beadbi Protest, Sikh TV Channels & Leaders. As it's looking more and more likely that the protest will take place outside the Grays Gurdwara Party Hall on the 16th October. Perhaps it's a crucial time for the Sikh media to step in. Sikh Channel, Sangat TV and Sikh TV can mediate the whole situation. The newly formed National Sikh committee can also help resolve this rather than letting this become a large scale protest on the day. There are 11 days of potential discussions which can lead to the permanent prevention of the gross sacrilage and offence to be committed by the Grays Gurdwara Prabhandak committee. Isn't it now time for the self appointed national Sikh leaders to start taking the lead?

  3. If there is a protest, what time will it be? Evening? I should be able to make it if its not during the day. But it would be good if transport can be organised from different towns.

  4. hukumnamas and sandeshs mean nothing to this committee, even naming and shaming means nothing to someone who is besharm. I also fail to see legal action being succesdful especially as no uk sikh jathebhandi is responible enough to champion or fund the legal action. so, in the event of no interest shown by any other elder sikh group in either uk or punjab then protesting outside the gurdwara party hall on the day a boozey party is to take place is the only effective language this grays committee, the grays community and our overweight leadership might eventually understand.

  5. Admin - can you PLEASE move this in the General forum? Legal challenge won't mean nothing to the Pendoo Committee at Grays. PLUS who's going to pay all the legal fees? I'm sure the protest will work. It will wreck the Kurmaaee for the families involved, and going forwards, families will consider whether they really want their programme wrecked for their own egotistical reasons!

  6. I am suprised that nobody has yet looked at the constitution and approached the Charity Commission. This needs to be done by a local Sikh. The protest etc is a short term solution, longer term is as above. We live in a liberal democracy, where there is freedom of speech, the right to a private life (function) etc. However there are also Laws in place, to ensure that these rights do not enfringe on other rights and freedoms and also have an negative impact on society.

  7. Sikh media needs to show they are Panthic, as do all those old boys that sit in the Sikh Channel studios on a Sunday evening asking for money and for youth engagement. Time to show that you can walk the walk.

  8. It feels as if we have to beg these jathebandis to help stop beadbi. Whats the point of their existence if they wont take the lead. This is religion not politics. We know that these jathebandis like Sikh Federation and Sikh Channel are active on Sikhsangat but as usual they will keep quiet when they are needed the most.

  9. Back to this old familiar scenario! ! If the sikh leaders are to fat and lazy to deal with these issues, then the sikh community should at least step up to feel a sense of responsibilty for their religious centres. I know most forum members wont bother with this issue, but those who will be feeling concerned about the abuse of the gurdwara premises at grays need to contact this committee asap. This does not need to end up as a mass protest on 16 Oct, this can be resolved by the sangat feeling a sense of ownership of the issue. Isnt it time for sikhs to finally wake up and become proactive?

  10. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Despite communications being sent out to the prominent UK Sikh leadership, large Gurdwaras , Sikh media and the administration of Sri Akal Takht Sahib we are in the unfortunate situation that the prabhandak committee of Grays Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) will allow the meat and alcohol to be served at a private party on the afternoon of Saturday 16th October 2010. At this stage the Sikh sangat and panthic jathebhandis are humbly requested to take the responsibility of contacting the committee of Grays Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) immediately, with the collective view that the sanctity of the sacred Gurdwara complex be upheld and the party does not go ahead in the Gurdwara Community Hall. 11. is there going to be an event or party that day at the hall? if not, then protesting outside an empty building, whilst the sell-out committee members are at home - any point? we need a 2-way strategy. Get the Sangat on our side. hand out leaflets in the Sangat, showing the disrespect, waste of money etc. name and shame the committee worldwide on the net. Only thing these guys care about is money. Protest on a day that will disrupt their event
