  1. Waheguru Ji ka KHalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh FYI * First ever attackers on Guru Gobind SIngh's bani were Ram Rayias. * It is found in Sikh HIstory records that Bhai Bulaki Dass, who was Ragi Sikh of Guru Ghar was beaten by Ram Rayias when he recite Chopai Sahib. * He was beaten and his instrument was broken by Ram Raiyas. * Khalsa and Banda Singh Bahadur punished Ram Raiyas for this act, on complaint. Refer: http://panthic.org/alerts/1000026 Remember Ram Raiyas also had Adi Granth's Pothi.

  2. That IS interesting. Not the kind of thing you'd expect from a western production, i.e. the "perfect" man is always an English lord or Earl and rarely - or never - someone from the colonies in these types of period productions.

  4. I take your point Kaljugi but...judging from what i've been reading from Americans in particular (and I think we can all take it as a given that the middle america I'm talking about is the middle class stay at home mum....romancing about british period dramas whilst husband's at work) ...the BBC have deliberately made the Sikh character of Mr Amanjit to be one of outstanding moral and physical qualities.i.e tall, upright and proud, honourable and strong. Its really been quite interesting to read how the perfect image of a man has been articulated via the image of a sikh....which in turn has made him the favourite character in the show for female fans.

  5. My personal opinon is that just as Sikhs today have been involved in doing the character assasination of Sant Jarnail Singh, in the same way some Sikhs have done character assisination of Baba Banda Singh Bahahdur. Even the Jathedar of Budha Dal - Santa Singh was invovled in the character assisnation of Sant Jee - so why can't 200 years earlier Rant Singh Bhangu added abit masala from himself to do the character assasination of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur? Is it not possible? I can only image how Sikhs would have felt when they heard that a Sadhu whom Guru Gobind Singh had just met and within a day given Amrit was all of a sudden the jathedar of the panth? Is it not possible that this could have ticked off some Sikhs that could result in resentment? No one is perfect, only Vaheguroo & Guroo Jee - so all can have some flaws but i can only look at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's complishments to to see what he was like. For me the first thing that comes to mind is how amazing must have he been to take on the task of getting justice only days after meeting Guroo Jee...could we? He was unknown to ALL the Sikhs in Punjab but still was able to convince Sikhs in jungles all over punjab, who were in small bands and organised them in the jungles to start a mutiny which lead to Fateh within 20 months. I can't convince my family to do even the smallest things, but he brought all the panth together in some harsh times to acheive vicotry not only at Sirhind...but ultimately Khalsa Raaj - i mean that is just amazing!!!!! Yes, there was the handwritten letter from Guroo Jee but he still must have had the qualities & kamaii of a true leader!!! When Khalsa Raaj was established did he create currency with his name on it? No...the currency was in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Jee & Guru Gobind Singh Jee. This doesn't seem like the actions of a power hungry, ego maniac that wanted to become the Guru of the Sikhs as is being presented by some Sikhs today! Yes Baba Banda Singh Bahadur openly admitted that at Sirihind some Sikhs took it too far and did many wrong things - But being the jatherdaar of the mutiny & being so amazing, he took full responsibilty - like a true leader and its this which ultimately resulted in his world famous Shaheedi. Parnaam Shaheeda(n) Noo!!!! I will only base my opinions on the accomplishments of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and his accomplishments are endless. What greater way to live ones life than to accept the hukam of Guroo Jee and get justice, establish Khalsa Raaj & then to leave this world as a Shaheed!!! Many 'scholar's' of today slander Sant Jee and in 200yrs time it will be the words of these 'scholars' that Sikhs in 200yrs time will probably belieive that Sant Jee was bad. Even many 'Sikhs' do character assaination of Sant Jee and many do it of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur...but its Sant Jarnail Singh's & Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's accomplishments that speak louder than a few words written on pages by scholars, be it now or 200 years ago!

  8. i just complained to the sikh channel... although loved by most punjabi's, satinder sartaj is a close friend to gurdas man, both these poeple dont give two hoots about sikhi, and both believe in muslim fakirs, sikh channel today was promoting sartaj uk tour... sartaj was wearing a paki green phag and greeted sikh sangat with satsriakaal, followed by salaam (and then did the paki hand thing). i wouldnt have objected if this was on a punjab channel, but this happened on a uk based sikh channel... makes me sick.. i expect this off sangat tv not sikh channel. i have also heard sartaj often sits in congress rallys - is this true?

  11. Blimey. Typical London Transport. You wait 27 years for a racist white woman to rant on the tube and then ?.............4 come all at once !!! Could it, by any chance, be related to the coalition govt's budget cuts..vis a vis cuts in the mental health budget....thus releasing the nutters out into the community ? I think we should be told. Umm......Another thing I've noticed is that of the 4 videos that have come out over the last couple of months the woman is always a brunette in her early 30's with the same hairstyle. Could they be, by any chance, related ? I think we should be told.

  12. This is a general share among our Sangat from writings of Prof Sahib Singh, where he directly mentioned that Zafarnama was written by Guru Gobind Singh Itself and so Bachitar Natak, Akal Ustati is. He used dasam bani in various of his writings. The ultimate thing is the way he describe Kaal, Bhagauti and all terms which are wrongly interpreted by some of our fellow sikhs and even they claim that Prof Sahib Singh rejected Dasam Granth in whole which is wrong. They even rejected the views of Prof Sahib Singh over Dasam Granth(less researched) and claims that his views would destablize Sikh Panth, along with Kahn Singh Nabha Views. > http://sikhisearch.blogspot.com/2011/11/prof-sahib-singh-about-zafrnama.html > http://sikhisearch.blogspot.com/2011/10/extracts-on-dasam-bani-from-prof-sahib.html > Guru Gobind Singh and Devi Pooja in Unicode: http://sikhisearch.blogspot.com/2011/12/unicode.html Thank You Best Regards

  13. Singh559, I attach a photo of the Budha Dal stallion which is from a puratan bloodline. Sadly he is in poor shape. But in the photo you can see his size and conformation. (Photo courtesy of Manu Sharma of Patiala) Veerji people will have you believe all good horses are marwari. Whats a marwari? Some say cover a kathi mare with a sindhi stallion and out pops a marwari. Don't buy too much into the marwari ideas. The second horse in your photo is a Nukra (so called albino), the marwari society do not recognise nukra. Also some photos of Sawai the stallion of the Bidhi Chand Dal which is kept for Guru Ji (again kudos to Manu veerji for photos). http://indigenoushor...and-dal-of.html http://indigenoushor...of-nihangs.html Yes the Punjab horse society highlighted in your article held their inaugural endurance event a few weeks ago. All of those involved are very pro Punjabi horses and promoting our bloodlines so may Waheguru further their mission forward. Bottom photo is the Budha Dal Stallion.

  14. No real rule book. A Society to promote Punjabi bloodlines and horse sports in Punjab has recently been setup. I am sure the people involved will do their best to promote and protect our bloodlines. Maybe all the interbreeding has resulted in the anmol breed being lost. However the horse breeds that were with Guru Ji and later the Sikh misals could easily be bred again as they were just interbreeding turkoman origin, arabi and desi horses. All these breeds still exist but sadly no one has any arab or turkoman horses currently in India to experiment with. Lailla was turkoman in origin according to people I have spoken with. Very little desi look about him if you look at his ears. Raju Baba with Budha Dal is a very heavy horse and when he galloped the ground shook all around, sadly today he is in poor condition. He was the closest you will get to the old heavy war horses that people are referring to. Hopefully he can be saved and used as a sire again. Dalsingh, Thanks for those quotes. Please can you post any more sources which make reference to the Sikh horses. I have attached some horses which are the stars of the Punjabi horse scene. The grey (neela) stallion called Adam is currently standing in Ludhiana and more than 20 years old, his offspring are highly prized. The bay stallion (Naag) was sired by Adam and offers of RS50lakh+ have reported to have been made to buy him.

  15. Guru Ji used to have horses bought over from Persia, so more than likely arabi, Akhal-Teke, turkoman inspired the breeds used by the Sikhs. Old european paintings of the court of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji show horses of arabi appearance. The Budha Dal used to have 80 mares at Raqba at one time for breeding and still have some puratan nasal horses from the famed lineage of Mundra, Raju Baba aka Karamati etc etc. These lines have good size (16hh+)and ears smaller than the marwari etc. If you ever chat with old Nihangs like Baba Maghar Singh then he can give you lots of information on this great bloodline. Sadly one of the stallions from this great puratan line was in very poor shape last I heard. The Bidhi Chand have a stallion in their fauj named Sawai which no one rides as he is reserved for Guru Ji, he is a bit old now but also a fantastic looking horse with good height and some say he has arabi type looks. It is important that these bloodlines are preserved and hopefully horse lovers in Punjab will come together to do this before it is to late. There are also other bloodlines in Punjab (usually these distinct bloodlines are ignored as the Marwari's from rajasthan get promoted as some sort of super war horse, reality is that the rajasthani horses are nothing when lined next to the punjabi bloodlines). There is also the famous Chuner Wala Ghora who has good height and some of his offspring are amongst the most highly sort after horses in India. Due to the craze for the Nukra (so called Albino) horses across Punjab we have lost some of our traditional colours due to breeding but you can gauge the size etc of Punjabi horses from good Nukras. They will have better height and be heavier than the rajasthani marwari etc.
