  1. Ontario’s NDP Deputy Leader Jagmeet Singh presented and passed unanimously a motion calling on the Legislative Assembly permission to fly the Sikh Flag or Nishaan Sahib outside of Queen’s Park. The motion that the MPP from Bramelea Gore Malton Jagmeet Singh presented to the Speaker of the House read: I move that the Sikh Nishan Sahib flag be flown on the ceremonial flagpole today, April 14, and Monday, April 18.

  2. What about the ENORMOUS discrepancy in the physicality of life a few generations ago compared to now. If you were a mistri - you'd be sawing trees and drilling holes without electric tools. If you was a farmer, you'd have no tractor/combine harvester. You'd be carrying around your tools without cars/trucks. Singhs were famous for shockingly long swift marches. Even being a 'housewife' would be laborious with all the churning for malai/butter. All of this under a blazing sun. The only people in Sikh society that didn't live very physical lives would be the mercantile class. We expend a tiny amount of energy compared to our recent ancestors but eat more - add to this some sort of genetic predisposition to storing fat in the gut area a lot of us have - it doesn't take a genius to figure out where that is going to take us. The examples are all around.

  4. Guru Nanak Dev ji mentioned Khalsa too ...and the history of sarabloh granth indicates it was started in Guru ji's previous janam and waited to be presented in His latest janam for completion.

  5. Apologies if I sounded snappy, getting old :-( Where does the Guru reside? In the sangat. Sangat is Guru roop. So would we expect Guru Ji to stand in line, pick up a thali and choose which sabzi/dhall etc to get and then find a place to sit? No, we would very respectfully sit Guru Ji down in pangat place thali in front and serve Guru Ji and then pick up the thali after wards. So we should do the same for the sangat, as the sangat is Guru roop. I hear your frustrations, I know its difficult but the committee needs to be made aware of the service and ways to improve it. It may need a jatha of people to take control and organise the langar, get the youth involved.

  6. This type of Dawaist debate is done out of a sense of perceived superiority complex but the underlying reason is they have a lot of insecurities. They are quite frightened to listen in case it makes them doubt their own beliefs which I know they do at a subconscious level. We saw this with the rhetorical devices Dawa man in his debate with Jagraj Singh. The minute Jagraj gets his point across, the Dawah man gets gripped into it before he had to snap himself out of it. I always get the feeling they are trying to convince themselves more than anyone else. Though this is a very interesting exercise for any Parcharik to see how Dawaists talk, how they react, how they question, their body language etc.
