  2. yes, it is happening this year, starting today. i made the flyer day before yesterday and tried alottttt to upload it here, but it did not work. if someone can post it let me know. i'll send it in the email.
  3. Both the "orthodox" and "fundamentalist" are very very negative terms. Guru Sahib created Sikhs, not categories of Sikhs. If we started using these terms for Sikhs, then people will start inventing new categories, for example, "sharab peeney Sikh", "Beeri Phook Sikh", etc. etc. So a Sikh is a Sikh is a Sikh. We can call one Amritdhari Sikh, but we should not put Amritdhari Sikh in "Orthodox" categories. This term has a very negative connotation and is used for those people who are blinding following a path which has no or very little significace in today's world. This term is used extensively in Christianity. Those muslims are called "Islamic fundamentalists" who are terrorists and converting people by force. So using any of these terms for Sikhs or Sikhi is not only wrong, very very offensive. bhul chuk di khima.....
  4. A longggg time ago, about 5 years ago I went to a public library here and was looking for books about Indian Independence. I found a book and started browsing through the index until i find the word sikh. Then i went to that page and same thing was written that Sikhs killed their women to save them from the muslims. It said that a muslim mob was roaring and rushing towards the sikhs and sikhs, to save their honor, lined up their women in a line facing the opposite directions and then shot them. It was very painful situation. It was late at night. The writer described the whole scene. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the book. That was the first time I ever read such a thing. In the same book, the writer wrote very offensive and negative remarks about Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The writer goes like during the time of the Moghuls (i forgot what he/she wrote next)....a clever man, Nanak started his own religion. I was like what the hell man. At time I didn't know anything about Sikhi, but was trying to learn more. Those were the days when I came know about anti-sikh writers and their books in these libraries and found out that what kind of impression ppl will have whoever reads these books.
  5. That is why I requested you to listen to the audios, well better later than never. You can do it now
  6. MKhalsa Ji, how can you concentrate on sound if you are not observing, but reacting. We should bring out mind to stillness and calmness in order to oncentrate on the sound. You totally misunderstood the concept. This is my humble request to you, please please please listen to the audios before continuing the discussiong. And I have one more thing, there will also be some people during Guru Arjan Dev Ji's time who must have objected Guru Sahib about adding Bhagats' bani in Sri Granth Sahib. Please do not fall in the same pot. Read 4 pauris of Suni-ai in Japuji, as mentioned by Ryu Hayabusa. You are contradicting Guru Sahib's Bani. Do you know more than the Guru Nanak Dev Ji? If so, then I seek forgiveness from you A piece of suggestion: Please listen to the audios before continuing the discussion.
  7. hmmm.... if u remember, in Ardas, we say about our Shaheeds, "jinha ne dekh ne anditth keeta...". what does this mean? It means the ones who observed, but did not react, they saw, but still kept it unseen, overlooked and bare all kind of torture, it could also be applied to the bad thoughts that come in our mind at every moment. I am no one to speak about Naam Simran, but what I have heard is that when you do Naam Simran, you do not react to the "thoughts" that start coming in your mind with you start doing Naam Simran. You just observe when they come and let them go, without reacting. I am not sure if its same as Naam Simran, but it plays an important role in Naam Simran. And on the other side, if you keep reacting to the thoughts, we will never be able to what is called "dhiaan jorna". So Observing, but not reacting is very very very very.......... important and this is what the audios are talking about. Balwinder Singh Ji, please listen to all the tracks before continuing the discussion. I'll do the same  bhul chuk di khima....
  8. Dear MKhalsa Ji, you are right, again. as Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji says, sarab Dharam meh saraysat Dharam. har ko naam jap nirmal karam. Of all religions, the best religion is to chant the Name of the Lord and maintain pure conduct. So now the questions is, the audios this thread is talking about talks about this Universal Truth, Naam Simran, which can unite anyone with his/her True Identity, may it be a Sikh, Hindu, Bodhi, or anyone. To further prove this, you can look at the fact that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji contains the bani not only of 6 Guru Sahibans, but also the bhagats belonging to other faiths, which proves that the Universal Truth was the same, independent of a religion, as you can see in Gurbani Tuk above, which uses a word so general that could be applied to any faith or religion that concentrates on Naam Simran. And now please do not blame me for contradicting Guru Sahib. Isn't it the one who refuses to accept the fact of "Universal Truth", as it is in the Tuk above, contradicting Guru Sahib? A little suggestion: Please take a long breathe and if possible, listen to these audios. Its all about self-discovery (i have listened to 2 traks yet).
  9. You are right MKhalsa Ji, but there is also something called "Universal Truth", which has the potential to take anyone to Sachkhand, regardless of the religion  And also, lets say there are two individuals walking on the street. One is Sikh and the other follows Mahatma Budh's teachings. Lets say the latter has done more kamaee and is much ahead of the former. So in this situation, there is nothing wrong if a Sikh "listens" to the one who follows Budh. I think according to Mahatma Budh, Nirvana is the highest stage one can get to. And Nirvana is also mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and is very high stage, if not the highest (i am not sure). If someone can find that out, it will be great!
  10. I listened to the first 2 tracks yet and they are WONDERFUL!!! If anyone wants to listen to these audios, go to a very calm and confertable place, such as ur bedroom or somewhere there is no distraction or disruption. Listen to these audios very very carefully. And there is one more think that I was wondering about. We on the discussion forums talk about several things about Sikhi such as our history, battles, importance of 5 K's, etc. etc. but very rarely we talk about how to do Naam Simran, which is Daana. We should give Naam Simran the first priority. When we learn from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, one can easily see how much Guru Sahib put emphasis on Naan Simran. I read somewhere that Sant Attar Singh Ji said, "Leave 10 things to eat on time, leave 100 things to do Nitnem on time, and leave 1,000 things to do Naam Simran on time". We have such a wonderful history just because of the power of Naam. It made our ancestors strong enough to fight in battles, sacrifice their lives, and bare every type of torture, but yet, remained detached from Maya. Sant Attar Singh Ji also said that Sikhs lack Naam Simran to a great extent. They don't do it as much as they should. bhul chuk di khima....
  11. All these files have .m4a extension. Is it mpeg 4 audio format? If so what kind of software i need to listen to them. I already have windows media player, but it does not recoginze this format thanks.
  12. You have very valid point Harmeet Singh Ji. A long time ago i was reading a book by McLeod, an anti-sikh writer, where he talked about Yogi Bhajan. I think the name of the book was "Sikhism" with Harimandir Sahib picture on the front cover. He said that there will be another leader who Yogi Bhajan will have lead the Sikh Dharma after he dies. He projeted them as different from Sikhism and it was really really hurtening. But it may come true. As you have said about Yogi Bhajan, I think these questions will be raised extensively in the future, which will create divisions among Sikhs, western and Indians.
  13. this is sooo true. i beg apology from all the people who i have hurt on this forum.
  14. I have a question about this. Is it some kind of cult that will attract you by having you work on some techniques and making you feel different and good in some way so that they can attract you towards their way, or to say, the main enterance to their cult/sect just like Radhasoamis? send me the tapes at jasswant@gmail.com This is not my primary email address and I never check my emails, but i keep it for big size file sharing purposes only.
  15. Also I wanted to add that there are some people who just hate Yogi Bhajan for some reason. For example, Mr. I.J. Singh has no problem with anti-Sikh writers such as McLeod and his gang, but he just hates Yogi Bhajan. I was used to read his articles at Sikhe.com a longggggg time ago and he will find every possible opportunity to slander Yogi Bhajan.
  16. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I beg an apology for what i have said in my post previously. I had totally different thing in my mind when I said that. And I totally agree that what he said about Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji made a mistake is VERY VERY offensive. But again, we have to find out the source of Dr. Gurbax Singh's words about Bhai Harbhaji Singh Yogi. I remember a long time ago I posted some questions at Sikhnet Discussion Forum about Yogi Bhajan's picture where he has a chakr or aura around his head as it is seen in Sikh Gurus' pictures, but my post was rejected by the moderators by saying that they cannot take any comments or discussions (if forgot the exact wording) about religious leaders and organizations. And secodly, there should not be any comparison between KPS Gill and Harbhajan Singh Yogi. KPS Gill's objective was to kill sikhs and it was not a religious deed. But because of Yogi Bhajan's Yoga classes, hundreds and thousands of people were introduced to Sikhi the first time. Secondly and most importantly, the people who adopted Sikhi through coming in contact with Yogi Bhajan are better Sikhs than most of us Indians. They practice Bani and Bana more than we do. They do not practice Cast System as we do. We are still debating at preliminary teachings of our Gurus (The fundamental beliefs of Sikhi), but they have braught these revolunary changes in practice. They give more equality to women than us. We do not allow women to play a role in 5 payare (five beloved ones) during Amrti, but they do. On April 9th of this year on Friday at Guru Ram Das Ashran in LA, 2 out of 5 payare were women. I am not talking about Yogi Bhajan at th is moment, but the people who became Sikhs though him. Has anyone read a book "In Search of a True Guru" by Bhai Rama Singh Ji. He talks about when these people who adopted Sikhi and how Sikhi will spread though out the world with their contribution. Even Sahib admits that these people are more committed to Rehat once they have taken Amrit than us. Now I think it would be more clear to see why these is no comparison between KPS Gill and Yogi Bhajan.
  17. Bhaji can you please elaborate that? This is totally new to me. I thought the origin of the war was Rawan's haumai and his activities.
  18. Ok, do you agree that everybody has good things and bad things in them? Are you perfect? If your answer to the second question is 'No', then I'll stop here.
  19. Sikhi teaches Humanity. (I used the word "Sikhi", not religion)
  20. I had a friend long time ago. She is Amritdhar girl and i think her family wanted her to marry her dad's friend's son. The guy was clean shaven and the girl said she will marry only a Amritdhari boy. Boy's mom said that he will keep kesh and will take Amrit if that is the case. I don't have the updates and have no idea what happend next or what is going to happen in the future. Now the question is: Is he taking Amrit only to marry this girl so that he could come to America? So my advice to you is that please you are the one who is going to marry the person, not your parents. I understand that Indian marriages are between two families not just two people, but its the matter of two souls too. We also have a relative from my dad's side. She is my dad's mom's husband's brother's daughter. (sorry if incorrect grammer). The guy was from America and went to India to get married. On the day of the marriage, the girl found out that the guy is a heavy drunk and he also drank on the day of the marriage. She cried alot not to get married with this guy cuz she knew that her life will be destroyed. But as you guys know India families, they forced her to get married to this man go save her family's honor cuz according to Indian culture it is not good if the groom returns without marrying the bride. Now its been i think 11 years to their marriage and they have i think 2 or 3 kids (i think one or two of the kids are girls and only of them is Amritdhari) the guy drinks alot, doesn't do any work, and constantly beat her. Guys family is supports the guy do all these things and girl has no support. Some times he beats her sooooo bad that her head starts b leeding and few weeks ago he broke her arm. And the guys family is saying stuff like, "He is your God. No matter how he is he is your husband te husband rabb hunda aa." I was like that the hell is that. At this recent incidence the guy was jailed for domestic violence but due to guy's family pressure on the girl he was released but he still keeps drinking and tried to beat her up again.... So my point of telling all this is that make a deliberate decision. DO NOT KEEP ANYTHING ON EXPECTATIONS AND DON'T EXPECT ANYBODY TO CHANGE SO THAT HE CAN GET YOU. And do not go for this person just because he is being introduced to you by your family. Forgetting and forgiving the past are two very different things. So my advice to you is that meet this person and find out the meat and bones. Secondly and most inportantly, since you know about this guy's past, do not let yourself flow in your emotions. And pray to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to arrange you a PERFECT match. Beg for it. Ask Guru Sahib to give your a husband from his own Khajana (treasure). If child won't ask from his father, who will she ask from? And pray to Guru Sahib to give you a husband accouding to "Dharamic Life", not "Karmic Life" ( http://www.sikhnet.com/sikhnet/discussion....37?OpenDocument ) bhul chuk di khima...
  21. I went there and it was wonderful! The keertan on Saturday night was amazing. Even though i got to listen to it for ony a few hours but I found it amazing, the keertanis who did keertan when i was in were: Bhai Gurmel Singh, Bhai Amarjeet Singh Taan, Bhai Gulbag Singh, Bhai Nirmal Singh (Hazoori Raagi Sri Darbar Sahib), Bhai Bhupinder Singh Paras, Bhai Rajinder Singh Sital, Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji Sri Nagar wale, and many more jathas. It was amazing. Then in the morning at 5am-7am, Bhai Nirmal Singh Ji did Asa Di //. I did not get to walk with the nagar keertan, but a friend of mine did and he took took hundreds of pictures. I will paste the link here when he'll upload it at www.SikhWisdom.com And don't ask about the langar folks. It was amazing, cannot describe it. People served Guru Ka Langar with soooooooooooo much sharda. It was incredible.
  22. Before converting, you need to consider why we have such a wonderful history and why sooooo many gursikhs sacrificed their lives for it. They accepted death over conversion, may it be forceful or by choice. You will never find a path better than Sikhi anywhere in the world. Pray and meditate to find your path.
  23. coool.... we'll be there on Sunday
  24. Damn! he loooooks soo cute in that video. sombody gotta send it to AFV (America's Funniest Videos) ))))
